The constituency of Styria 5 was a constituency for the elections to the House of Representatives in the Austrian Crown Land of Styria . The electoral district was created in 1907 with the introduction of the Reichsrat election regulations and existed until the collapse of the Habsburg monarchy .
history
After the Reichsrat had decided on the general, equal, secret and direct male suffrage in autumn 1906, the major reform of the electoral law through the sanctioning of Emperor Franz Joseph I came into effect on January 26, 1907 . The new Reichsrat election regulations created a total of 416 electoral districts, with the exception of Galicia in each constituency one member was elected in the course of the Reichsrat election. The MP had to prevail with an absolute majority in the first ballot or in a runoff election. The constituency of Styria 5 comprised the cities, markets and communities of Mariazell , Aflenz , Bruck an der Mur , Kapfenberg , Frohnleiten , Deutschfeistritz , Übelbach Markt , Kindberg Markt , Kindberg Land , Krieglach , Mitterndorf , Wartberg , Leoben , Sankt Peter bei Leoben , Trofaiach , Mürzzuschlag , Langenwang .
The Social Democrat Alois Ausobsky emerged victorious from the 1907 Reichsrat election . He prevailed with 54.4% in the first ballot. He was followed by Anton Fürst from the German People's Party with 30.6% and the Viennese Christian-social politician Leopold Kunschak with 14.7%. In the 1911 Reichsrat election , Ausobsky's party colleague Michael Schacherl also prevailed in the first ballot. He achieved 56.8% and relegated the German-liberal candidate Anton Werba to second place with 39.9%.

The 1907 Reichsrat election was held on May 14, 1907 (first ballot). The runoff election was dropped because of the absolute majority for Ausobsky in the first ballot.
