The MP had to prevail with an absolute majority in the first ballot or in a runoff election. The constituency of Styria 5 comprised the cities, markets and communities of Mariazell , Aflenz , Bruck an der Mur , Kapfenberg , Frohnleiten , Deutschfeistritz , Übelbach Markt , Kindberg Markt , Kindberg Land , Krieglach , Mitterndorf , Wartberg , Leoben , Sankt Peter bei Leoben , Trofaiach , Mürzzuschlag , Langenwang .

The Social Democrat Alois Ausobsky emerged victorious from the 1907 Reichsrat election . He prevailed with 54.4% in the first ballot. He was followed by Anton Fürst from the German People's Party with 30.6% and the Viennese Christian-social politician Leopold Kunschak with 14.7%. In the 1911 Reichsrat election , Ausobsky's party colleague Michael Schacherl also prevailed in the first ballot.
