The constituency no. 6 ( polish okręg wyborczy nr 6 ) is since 2011 existing constituency for the election of the Senate of the Republic of Poland and was based on the wyborczy Kodeks of January 5, 2011 (Journal of Laws 2011 nr 21 poz. 112) built. The area of ​​constituency no.6 was previously part of constituency no.3 . The first election that took place in the constituency was the general election on October 9, 2011 .

According to Annex No. 2 ( Załącznik nr 2 ) of the wyborczy code in the last announcement of February 22, 2019 (Dz.U. 2019 poz. 684), the constituency includes the Powiate Górowski , Milicki , Oleśnicki , Oławski , Strzeliński , Średzki , Trzebnicki , Wołowski and Wrocławski of the Lower Silesian Voivodeship ( Województwo dolnośląskie ) .

The seat of the constituency commission is Breslau ( Wrocław ) .

Jarosław Duda stepped down on May 28, 2019 after being elected Member of the European Parliament. Due to the short time lag to the next parliamentary election, no additional election took place in the constituency; the mandate remained vacant until the end of the electoral term.

Parliamentary election 2011

The election took place on October 9, 2011.

Of the three incumbent senators of the former constituency No. 3, all Platforma Obywatelska, all ran in the 2011 parliamentary elections: Władysław Sidorowicz , Minister for Health and Social Affairs in the Bielecki cabinet and senator in his second term, ran unsuccessfully for the Sejm in the constituency No. 3 . Leon Kieres , senator in the fourth and seventh electoral terms , ran against Kornel Morawiecki and Jarosław Obremski in constituency no. 8 , but lost to Obremski in the end. Jarosław Duda, a member of the Sejm between 2004 and 2007 and a senator in his first term, ran in the newly established constituency No. 6.

In addition to Duda, Tomasz Misiak, another incumbent senator, ran for re-election in this constituency. Misiak was the Senator for Platforma Obywatelska from 2005 to 2007 for the former constituency No. 3 and from 2007 to 2011 for the former constituency No. 1 . This time, however, he ran as an independent candidate for the electoral committee of Rafał Dutkiewicz . Duda emerged victorious in the election and took up his second term as senator.
