Walter Bauhofer

Walter Bauhofer (born May 4, 1963 in Altshausen ) is a German chef . Among other things, he publishes specialist articles and food pictures and appears on television programs.

Life

Bauhofer, the son of an innkeeper’s daughter, began an apprenticeship as a cook at the “Kleber Post” in Bad Saulgau when he was 17 . His path led via Feinkost Käfer to the Albert Bouley restaurant , to the 3 Michelin-starred restaurant "Jamin" by the French chef of the century Joël Robuchon , Meilleur Ouvrier de France in Paris and to its German counterpart Eckart Witzigmann . Further stations were the “ Restaurant Bareiss ” in Baiersbronn under Manfred Schwarz , later known as “Chancellor Chef”, as well as the Wertheimer restaurant “Schweizer Stuben” with Dieter Müller . His penchant for the French kitchen style also brought him to the starred Maxim’s restaurant at 3 rue Royale in Paris, which Pierre Cardin had acquired a few years earlier .

At the Waldhorn restaurant on Ravensburger Marienplatz, he became the sous- chef at Albert Bouley in 1984 and cooked the coveted Michelin star at his side . After professional training to become a master chef and a state-certified business economist at the hotel management school in Heidelberg , he managed the Hotel-Restaurant Altes Badhaus in Eberbach am Neckar. Since 1994, Bauhofer has been teaching prospective cooks at the Paul Kerschensteiner School - state vocational school for the hotel and catering trade in Bad Überkingen . Since 2004 he has also been head of the “teaching kitchens” department.
