Walter Mauder (born December 6, 1913 in Zwiesel ; † December 31, 1999 there ) was a German painter .

Life

Walter Mauder was the son of Bruno Mauder, the director of the Zwiesel Glass School, and his wife Ella, née Reithuber. Walter Mauder attended secondary schools in Passau and Regensburg. From 1933 to 1936 he studied at the Academy of Applied Arts in Munich .

After taking his diploma, he returned to Zwiesel, where he lived from then on as a freelance artist. Participated in the war since 1939, he was seriously wounded in 1943. In 1944 he began teaching at the glass college. In 1947 he was a co-founder of the artists' association Danube-Forest Group .

With this artists' association he took part in around 140 exhibitions and presented his works in numerous galleries. Wall painting became his specialty . Numerous buildings in Bavaria have his paintings, mosaics and inlays in wood and stone on the outside or inside . He was also active in reverse glass painting and painted glasses as well as rustic furniture. In 1996 he was co-founder of the Ostbayern Art Collection in Hengersberg .

Works by Walter Mauder can be found in the Oberhausmuseum Passau, the Städtisches Museum Regensburg, the Franconian Gallery Nuremberg , the Bavarian State Painting Collection in Munich and the Städtisches Museum Burghausen.

Walter Mauder, who had been married to Gisela von Rohden since 1938 and became the father of their daughters Monika and Gundel, is buried in the Zwiesel cemetery.
