Coat of arms of the Estonian SSR

The coat of arms of the Estonian SSR was used during the existence of the Estonian SSR , a republic of the Soviet Union .

history

It was officially introduced on October 1, 1940, shortly after Estonia was occupied by the Red Army and incorporated into the Soviet Union.

The coat of arms was abolished on August 7, 1990, one year before Estonian regained independence, and replaced by the current coat of arms of the Republic of Estonia .

description

The coat of arms has a round shape. In the upper part a five-pointed, yellow-framed red star is depicted, which is supposed to represent belonging to communism and the hand of the liberated man of the classless society.

In the lower part you can see an intertwined ribbon with Eesti NSV (for Eesti Nõukogude Sotsialistlik Vabariik , “Estonian Soviet Socialist Republic”) in the middle in Estonian . Above it, on the left and right, in Estonian and Russian, respectively , is the final sentence from the Communist Party's manifesto : “Proletarians of all countries, unite!” ( Kõigi maade proletaarlased, ühinege! - Пролетарии всех стран, соединяйтесь! ).

On the left, wheat sticks wrap around the center of the coat of arms. On the right a green shrub of a conifer surrounds the center. In the center hovers a hammer and sickle in gold , symbolizing communist state politics. Under this symbol you can see a golden, rising, shining sun.
