Coat of arms of the Transcaucasian SFSR 1923–1936

The coat of arms of the Transcaucasian Federal Socialist Soviet Republic was the official coat of arms of the Transcaucasian Federal Socialist Soviet Republic , which existed from 1922 to 1936 within the Soviet Union .

The coat of arms contained Georgian , Armenian and Azerbaijani components, while at the same time it was based on the then state coat of arms of the Soviet Union . So the crescent moon stood at the bottom in the middle for the Islam of the Azerbaijanis . The grid in the star outside, however, stood for Georgian culture . Mount Ararat pictured in the background is of great historical importance for the Armenians . The star in the top center stood for communism and the hammer and sickle stood for the proletariat .

When the Transcaucasian SFSR was dissolved, three new Soviet republics ( Armenian SSR , Azerbaijani SSR , Georgian SSR ) were created, which now used their own coats of arms.
