The author Warwick Deeping

Warwick Deeping wrote about 60 entertainment novels , some of which even during the silent film era were filmed. He was also well known in German-speaking countries during the 1930s as a writer of historical novels. His most popular work at the time was "Captain Sorrell and His Son" (1925, German 1927). In it he described how the almost soldierly comradeship between father and son maintained their relationship during the depression period after the First World War and the father's unemployment.

Historical romances dominated his early work. The later novellas revived the spirit of Edward VIII's time . Some of his works have been translated into German by the translator Elisabeth Schnack .
