Wassili Walerianowitsch Weber

Wassili Walerianowitsch Weber ( Russian Василий Валерианович Вебер ; * December 31, 1899 July / January 12,  1900 greg. In Tbilisi ; † February 9, 1987 in Moscow ) was a Russian geologist .

Life

Weber's parents were the geologist Valerian Nikolajewitsch Weber and the teacher Jelena Wassiljewna nee Bekarjukowa (1873–1942). The family moved to St. Petersburg after Weber was born . From 1910 Weber attended the Petrograd grammar school there with joint lessons, which he left with a gold medal in 1918 after the October Revolution . Then he studied at the Petrograd Mining Institute in the Geology Department of the Faculty of Geology and prospecting with completion in 1924. During his studies he participated in exploration work on the Svir , in Ukhta -type region, in Pechory -type region, the Kuzbass and Kazimir Petrovich Kalizki in Grozny - oil region in part.

After graduation, Weber worked in the coal section of the Geolkom (Geological Committee of the All-Russian Geological Institute). In 1928 he became a senior geologist in the petroleum section. After the Geolkom was dissolved in 1929, it was transferred to the All-Russian Research Institute for Geological Prospecting (WNIGRI), which was founded in 1930. During the German-Soviet War in 1942 he led the oil expedition in the area south of the Emba . In 1946 he became a senior scientist at WNIGRI (until 1984). Weber's investigations led to the opening of many oil fields in Azerbaijan . Weber led the work on the creation of the geological and tectonic map of the oil and gas regions . He was a doctor of geological and mineralogical sciences . He was the author of many specialist articles.
