Watertown is a census-designated place (CDP) in Columbia County in the US state of Florida with 2829 inhabitants (as of 2010).

Watertown borders Lake City to the west and is approximately 80 km west of Jacksonville . The CDP is crossed by US Highway 90 ( SR 10 ) and Florida State Roads 10A and 100 .

Demographic data

According to the 2010 census, the 2829 inhabitants at that time were distributed over 1421 households. The population density was 456.3 inh / km². 65.2% of the population identified themselves as whites, 31.4% as African American , 0.3% as Indians and 0.2% as Asian Americans . 0.9% said they belonged to another ethnic group and 1.9% to several ethnic groups. 3.0% of the population was made up of Hispanics or Latinos .

In 2010 children under the age of 18 lived in 27.5% of all households and persons aged 65 or over lived in 39.2% of all households. 60.9% of households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or one parent with offspring). The average household size was 2.34 people and the average family size was 2.92 people.

25.2% of the population were younger than 20 years, 22.1% were 20 to 39 years old, 24.1% were 40 to 59 years old, and 28.6% were at least 60 years old. The mean age was 43 years. 45.6% of the population were male and 54.4% were female.

The median annual income was $ 34,177, with 21.3% of the population living below the poverty line.

In 2000, English was the first language of 99.09% of the population and 0.91% spoke Spanish .
