Weißbriach ( Slovenian Višprije ) is a village and cadastral municipality in the Carinthian municipality of Gitschtal in the Hermagor district on Weißensee Straße .
location
Weißbriach lies at an altitude of 800 m above sea level. A. and is located in the south-west of Carinthia, at the end of an approximately 13-kilometer-long side valley of the Gailtal , which begins at Hermagor .
history
The first documented mention of Weißbriach comes from the year 1331, when the church in Weißbriach was mentioned in a land register from Hermagor. From the formation of political communities in Carinthia in 1850 to the structural reform of the community in 1973, Weißbriach was an independent community. Weißbriach is the most populous district of the municipality of Gitschtal , at the census in 2001 the village had 725 inhabitants.
After Wunibald Maier, a doctor and pastor, found the sulfur-containing water, he began water cures and baths there based on the model of Kneipp medicine . The company was founded in 2017 by the SeneCura Group from Dr. Dr. Wagner Group and is managed under the OptimaMed brand with the name OptimaMed Gesundheitsresort Weißbriach.
