The Weidlingbach rises in the northwest of the Vienna Woods and flows 16.4 km into the Danube in Klosterneuburg , Lower Austria , through the Klosterneuburg gorge .

course

The origin of the Weidlingbach lies near the village of Scheiblingstein am Scheiblingsteinberg at approx. 450  m above sea level. In the longitudinal course, it initially flows through the villages of Steinriegl , Weidlingbach , Weidling and finally Klosterneuburg . It corresponds to a typical Wienerwald creek with the corresponding hydrology of the flysch zone in the Bavarian-Austrian Alpine Foreland and Flysch fishing area (J). According to Moog et al. (2000) the river order number 4 is assigned to the Weidlingbach . The dominant runoff events are spring precipitation and snowmelt.

Occurring fish species

The Weidlingbach is home to stable natural populations of brown trout, cops and various other fish species. The Weidlingbach has been managed by the Friends in Fly Fishing association since 2012.
