The listed chapel Mariae Namen in Weidlingbach

Weidlingbach is a place and a cadastral municipality of the same name in the city of Klosterneuburg in Lower Austria.

geography

The street village-like settlement is located on the upper reaches of the Weidlingbach . The place is on the Simonsberg plateau between Steinrieglstrasse and Sieveringer Strasse.

The Wienerwaldsiedlung Scheiblingstein belongs to the cadastral community Weidlingbach , on the northwestern edge of Vienna, which emerged from forest huts, so-called Duckhütten. Scheiblingstein takes its name from a Roman milestone that is still fenced in a few hundred meters southeast of the settlement in the forest. In the 16./17. In the 19th century, Scheiblingstein, which at that time belonged to the Purkersdorf Forest Authority, only consisted of wood chopping huts.

history

The place is documented as a Neolithic hill settlement.

The place was first mentioned as Weydingpach in 1366. Weidlingbach used to be a lumberjack settlement, which in 1787 still consisted of a small number of timber huts. In 1669 a donated estate was built here. The coal burner activity reached enormous proportions in the Weidlingbach area. This is also shown by the street names Vorderer and Hinterer Köhlergraben. In 1884 a road was built to Weidlingbach.

Today the place is a popular destination, not least because of the numerous forest huts (e.g. Toiflhütte, Windischhütte, Rieglerhütte and s'Häuserl am Roan). The motorist health trail at the Windischhütte is also known.

coat of arms

The heraldic description reads:

Divided diagonally to the left by a silver thread , on the right a natural Roman milestone in green , on the left a green deciduous tree in gold .

The milestone is the one in Scheiblingstein .

Weidlingbach has had the official place symbol since 2014, which has been approved by the city of Klosterneuburg. Because the district is not a local authority, it is not really a coat of arms , it has the character of a logo.
