The Weinbiet Manufaktur e. G. is a German wine cooperative based in the Palatinate wine-growing community Mußbach , a district of Neustadt an der Weinstrasse .

history

The history of Weinbiet Manufaktur began in 1902 with the establishment of the Mußbach winegrowers' association . According to Raiffeisen's principles of self-help, self-management and self-responsibility - on the initiative of the Mußbach main teacher Julius Ullrich - 54 Mußbach winegrowers founded the Mußbach winegrowers' association on January 6, 1902. Over the years, the winegrowers' association grew increasingly because the interest in joint marketing increased. In 1920 the capacity limit was reached and new members could no longer be accepted. That is why the Mußbach winegrowers' cooperative was founded in September 1920 and acquired the property (today: An der Eselshaut 57 ) in 1927 , the current headquarters. Both sites still exist today. On the former site of the winegrowers' association, An der Eselshaut 32 , there is now the wine press house with the grape reception and production facility, which is used with its yard for parties and events. The Weinbiet Manufaktur is named after the 554  m high Weinbiet , a mountain on the eastern edge of the Palatinate Forest.

The wine cooperative vinifies and markets grapes from almost 325 hectares of cultivation area. The wines produced are considered producer bottling . The cooperation includes around 55 active members.

Quality management

The Weinbiet Manufaktur is certified according to IFS . Since 2001 it has been one of the first collaborations to use GrapeScan technology. In addition to the sugar content of the grapes, this also provides acid values ​​and essential criteria for the health of the grapes. The GrapeScan enables the qualities to be sorted. As part of a so-called rating system, the winemakers are looked after by a viticulture consultant during the growing season in order to improve quality.

Vineyards

The almost 325 hectares of vineyards cultivated by the winemakers are spread over the large Gimmeldinger Meerspinne site with the individual layers Gimmeldinger Almond Garden, Mußbacher Eselshaut , Mußbacher Kurfürst, Mußbacher Bischofsweg, Haardter Bürgergarten, Haardter Herrenletten and Haardter Schlossberg, as well as the Monopollage Haardter made exclusively by Weinbiet Manufaktur.

A total of 66% of the vineyards are planted with white wine grapes and 34% with red wine grapes . The grape variety index is composed as follows:

The following wine segments are offered:

  • Good in the liter includes all wines in the liter bottle.
  • Varietal wines are varietal wines, which are carefully processed and reflect the typical characteristics of the grape variety.
  • Vineyard wines come from special locations and have particularly high wine quality with a terroir-shaped character.
  • The Edition Philipp Bassler is named after one of the 54 founders of the Weinbiet manufactory of increasing the quality of wine had already prescribed 1,902th The wines come from the best parcels and are cultivated by selected winemakers.
