The Welch Township is one of 10 townships in Cape Girardeau County in the southeast of the US -amerikanischen state of Missouri .

Welch Township is about 15 km west of the Mississippi , which forms the border with Illinois . The mouth of the Ohio near Cairo at the intersection of the states of Missouri, Illinois and Kentucky is around 80 km to the southeast.
The Welch Township is located at 37 ° 11'08 "north latitude and 89 ° 44'51" west longitude and extends over 154.23 km², which is spread over 153.86 km² of land and 0.37 km² of water.
The northern limit of the township is the Headwater Diversion Channel , an artificially created flood canal that takes in a number of other rivers in addition to the Castor River and the Whitewater River and flows into the Mississippi south of the city of Cape Girardeau.
The Welch Township borders within Cape Girardeau County in the northwest to the Liberty Township , in the north to the Hubble Township and in the northeast to the Cape Girardeau Township . In the southeast, the Welch Township borders on Scott County , in the south on Stoddard County and in the west on Bollinger County .
