Wellen is a district of the unified community Hohe Börde in the district of Börde in Saxony-Anhalt .

The first known documentary mention of the place is dated to the year 1137. However, it can be assumed that the place was mentioned earlier, as a legal book from the 13th century indicates that the Archbishop of Magdeburg Engelhardt (1051-1063 in office) "acquired cen huve from greue Hoyer von Mansvelt zu groten Welle".

On January 1, 2010, the previously independent communities of Wellen, Ackendorf , Bebertal , Eichenbarleben , Groß Santersleben , Hermsdorf , Hohenwarsleben , Irxleben , Niederndodeleben , Nordgermersleben , Ochtmersleben and Schackensleben merged to form the new unified community of Hohe Börde.
