politics
A local constitution was introduced for the district of Eichenbarleben. The local council of Eichenbarleben consists of 7 members.
coat of arms
The coat of arms was approved on September 8, 1998 by the Magdeburg Regional Council.
Blazon : “Gold divided over green by a wave cut; above an upright green oak branch with a golden acorn between two leaves, below a golden plow. "
The two oak leaves symbolize the two places Eichenbarleben and Mammendorf, the acorn in the middle stands for the wealth of the Börde. The division of the coat of arms should represent the 7 curves (former post road from Königsberg to Aachen) which still underline the typical village character of the place today. In addition, the wave cut stands for the Olbe river, which flows through Eichenbarleben. The plow symbolizes the peasantry, which earlier and still today is strongly represented in the community.
The colors of the place are yellow - green.
religion
The two churches of Eichenbarleben are located on Bundesstraße 1, only about 60 meters away from each other:
The large St. Nicolai Church, named after Nikolaus von Myra , probably dates from the 13th century. Your parish is now part of parishioners area Irxleben in Kirchenkreis Haldensleben Wolmirstedt-the Evangelical Church in Central Germany .
The small St. Benedict Church , named after Benedikt von Nursia , was built in 1952/53. Since 2010 the Catholic Church has belonged to the parish of St. Christophorus based in Haldensleben . What is remarkable about the St. Benedict Church is the cross on the tower. Deviating from the usual shape, it does not have two cross bars as usual, but three. A cross bar points in every direction, and from every direction it is recognizable as a cross. In the interior, the tapestry depicting eight saints from the 1950s is noteworthy.
