Werner Albl

Werner Albl (born September 11, 1965 in Idar-Oberstein ) is a Brigadier General of the Army of the German Armed Forces and has been a defense attaché in the military attaché staff in Paris since August 2017

Military career

Training and first uses

Werner Albl joined the German Armed Forces as a conscript with the 310 Supply Battalion in 1984 and was then trained as a reserve officer candidate in Giessen . In 1986 he left the German Armed Forces, but in 1987 he was hired again as an officer candidate in Supply Battalion 5 in Wetzlar . In 1988 he began studying business administration at the University of the Federal Armed Forces in Munich and in 1992 became platoon leader in the 5th company of the 2nd Supply Battalion in Kassel . During this time he took part as a platoon leader in the "German Support Association Somalia" as part of the UNOSOM II mission in Beledweyne in Somalia. From 1994 to 1996 he was the company commander of the 6th Company of the Mountain Transport Battalion 83 in Kümmersbruck before he was employed as a logistics officer in the staff of the Eurocorps in Strasbourg for three years . Service as a staff officer

After completing the course, he was employed as a staff officer with the Head of Staff Division II in the command staff of the Armed Forces Base and with the Head of Staff Division IV in the command staff of the armed forces in the Federal Ministry of Defense in Bonn. From 2003 to 2007 he was already employed in the Franco-German brigade. First as a G4 staff officer in the staff of the Brigade in Müllheim , then as commander of the D / F supply battalion at the same location. Service as a general

In July 2015, he took over command of the Franco-German Brigade in Müllheim and was promoted to Brigadier General. From December 18, 2015 to the beginning of July 2016, he was also the mission commander of the European Training Mission (EUTM) in Mali. On July 12, 2017, he handed over command of the Franco-German Brigade to the French Général de brigade Bertrand Boyard.
