Werner Fleissner

Werner Fleissner (born June 17, 1922 in Chemnitz , † December 27, 1985 in Berlin ) was Colonel General of the NVA and Deputy Minister for National Defense of the GDR .

Life

Fleißner, the son of a model maker, attended elementary school and from 1936 learned the trade of model maker and worked in it. From 1941 he did military service , most recently as a non-commissioned officer (artillery), and was briefly interned in 1945 by the American army in Austria .

After his release he worked again as a model maker in 1945. On January 6, 1946, he became a member of the protection police , later head of the protection police in Chemnitz. In 1946 he became a member of the SPD and a short time later of the SED . He also acted as a vehicle operations manager in Fürstenwalde . He became a commissar of the People's Police . From 1948 to 1950 he was in command of the 4th barracked police station "Ernst Thälmann" in Grossenhain , where he was appointed Senior Councilor of the People's Police. 1950/1951 he was deputy head of technology / equipment of the People's Police Department in Zeithain . From 1951 to 1956 he worked as a commander of the motor vehicle officers' school of the barracked people's police in Apollensdorf near Wittenberg and Stahnsdorf near Potsdam . During this time he was promoted to colonel in 1953 . From 1950 to 1958 Fleißner studied at the officers' college in Dresden . From 1958 to 1963 he was chief of motor vehicles at the Ministry of National Defense and was appointed major general in 1963 . From 1964 to 1985 Fleißner acted as deputy minister for national defense and chief for equipment and for technology and armament. Fleißner was also subordinate to the "Industrial Technical Foreign Trade" office, which, among other things, organized arms and equipment deliveries to Africa in support of the liberation movements and left-wing governments. From 1965 to 1969 he completed a distance learning course at the military academy "Friedrich Engels" in Dresden, which he obtained as a Dipl. Rer. mil. graduated. In 1969 he was promoted to lieutenant general and in 1977 to colonel general of the NVA.

Fleißner wrote numerous articles for the magazines military and military technology .

His urn was in the grave conditioning Pergolenweg the memorial of the socialists at the Berlin Central Cemetery Friedrichsfelde buried.
