Werner Armin Herbert Axel von Ekesparre (born April 10, 1919 in Misdroy , Pomerania , † August 19, 1998 in Hamburg ) was a German surgeon. Together with Fritz Rehbein , he is one of the pioneers in pediatric surgery in Germany.

Life

Werner von Ekesparre came from a Baltic noble family from the island of Oesel ( Estonia ). He was the youngest son of the landowner and Oesel cash deputy Armin von Ekesparre (1869-1919), landlord on Euküll (in the parish of Karmel , Oesel island) and the Meta von Wardenburg (1883-1949) from Arensburg (Oesel island).

In 1951, Ekesparre wrote his dissertation at the University of Tübingen “On the question of thromboembolism , taking into account the frequency and prevention based on the Tübingen patient population from 1928–1948”.

From 1954 to 1958 he worked with Fritz Rehbein at the Clinic for Pediatric Surgery and Pediatric Urology at the Bremen-Mitte Clinic . From 1958 to 1984 he was chief physician of pediatric surgery in Hamburg-Duvenstedt and from 1970 to 1973 president of the German Society for Pediatric Surgery .

Ekesparre married Gudrun Freiin von Verschuer (born June 23, 1932 in Berlin ) on September 14, 1952 in Münster , the daughter of Professor Otmar Freiherr von Verschuer , director of the Institute for Human Genetics at the University of Münster , and Erika Flad.
