history

Half-length portrait with the inscription Nicolaus Ecke aet. 60

Based on a preserved family tree from Livonian history, the mayor and burgrave of Riga Nicolaus Ecke (* 1541 in Riga; † August 28, 1623 ibid) was named for the first time in 1582 . This is depicted on a medal that he had struck on the occasion of his 60th birthday in 1601. Other documents also contain name forms such as Eck, Eke or Eichen. Whether this Nicolaus Ecke is the real ancestor of all members of the Ekesparres cannot be proven historically and genealogically without any doubt .
