Settlement as a suburban residential area began in the early 1920s. As early as 1925, the relocation of the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) to Westwood led to national fame. In 1929, the settlement of Westwood Village on Westwood Boulevard, which is also considered a student and shopping district for the nearby university, led to further growth.

On March 16, 2014, the suburb was hit by a 4.7 magnitude earthquake. The epicenter of the Beverly Hills quake occurred at 6:25 a.m. However, the authorities did not issue a tsunami warning.

location

The neighborhood is bounded by Sunset Blvd to the north (bordering Bel Air ), Beverly Hills to the east, and Santa Monica Boulevard (bordering Century City ) to the south, and Los Angeles National Cemetery and Interstate 405 (to Brentwood ) to the west.
