Zbigniew Niemczycki

Zbigniew Marian Niemczycki (born January 23, 1947 in Nisko ) is a Polish entrepreneur .

Again and again he is listed in the richest lists of the country. With an estimated fortune of 200 million złoty , the Niemczyckis took 96th place in the Polish edition of Forbes magazine in 2011 in the list of the richest Poles ( Liście Najbogatszych Polaków 2011 ) . The magazine Wprost , however, estimated the couple's fortune in the same year at 1,350 million zloty (12th place among the richest Poles).

Entrepreneur

From 1961 to 1965, Niemczycki attended the Liceum Ogólnokształcącego im. Komisji Edukacji Narodowej in Stalowa Wola .

In 1977 he moved to the United States with his wife. There he met the entrepreneur Burt SerVaas, the owner of Curtis International . SerVaas hired him and soon Niemczycki took over responsibility for the Eastern European business in the company. In the 1990s he bought part of the company from SerVaas. Already in the early 1980s - after his return to Poland - Niemczycki recognized the potential of the animation studios in Bielsko-Biała . In Hollywood he met William Hanna , the co-owner of Hanna-Barbera Cartoons, Inc. , whom he was able to convince of the quality of Polish animation film makers. To this day, services for Hollywood productions are provided in Bielsko-Biała - as was recently the case with the film The Smurfs .

Niemczycki is - together with his wife Katarzyna, with whom he has four children - the owner of the Polish Curtis Group . The activities of this holding company, which employs around 1200 people, include:

Fundacja Polskie Orły

Niemczycki is a private pilot and owner of airworthy historical aircraft ( Messerschmitt Bf 109 , MiG-15 ). He is president of the Fundacja Polskie Orły (German: Polish Eagle Foundation ), which he founded in 1997 . This foundation works to preserve the traditions of Polish civil and military aviation. Funds from the foundation flow u. a. into financial aid for relatives of pilots who have had an accident, into the restoration of old aircraft and support with flight training.

The main source of income for the organization is the Międzynarodowy Piknik Lotniczy "Góraszka" air show, which has been held annually since 1996 . The show, which is attended by up to 90,000 spectators, takes place in late May or early June and extends over a weekend.
