The Wilde Graben , also called Flutgraben or Wilde Leina , is a left tributary of the Nesse in the Thuringian district of Gotha , the upper course of which runs in the city of Gothas . He will no small parts from the built in medieval times Leinakanal fed, which supplies it with water from the Thuringian Forest, by bifurcation of Hörsel Headwaters Leina and the upper reaches of Apfelstädt from the system Gera / Unstrut / Saale / Elbe is diverted. Its natural upper course is called the Ratsrinne .
At 104.6 km², the catchment area of the Wilder Graben is hardly smaller than that of the Nesse above the mouth (131.4 km²), plus the proportion of the catchment area of Leina (which TLUG Jena estimates at 20.8 km²) and Apfelstädt. In purely mathematical terms, the length of the Nesse over the upper Leina, Leinakanal and Wilden Graben is 63.5 km versus 54.5 km, and that of the Hörsel is even 73.3 km versus 55.2 km.
course
The Ratsrinne rises in the southwest of Gotha , immediately southwest of the Sundhausen district , on the former railway line, near the aqueduct of the Leinakanal. From here the stream initially flows 5.3 km in an east-northeast direction and drains a catchment area of about 20 km² via mainly right tributaries until it is only 2.5 km long, but at least 10 km², draining flax roast in the east south of the city center ( Pöpfleber Graben ) flows in from the southeast. From here the actual Wilde Graben begins, which from now on canalised to the north and finally to the northwest and still includes the Leinakanal in the core city area .
After passing Remstädt and Goldbach , the river finally flows into the Nesse after 17.1 kilometers south of Wangenheim ,
