Wilhelm Ernst von Zastrow (born November 27, 1769 in Kölpin , Neustettin district , † June 7, 1854 in Berlin ) was a Prussian major general and most recently the commander of the 16th Cavalry Brigade.

Wilhelm Ernst von Zastrow came from the Zastrow family , he was a son of the royal Prussian chamberlain , British and Hanoverian cavalry master and heir to Kölpin Andreas Wedig von Zastrow († 1795) and Friederike von Blanckensee († 1813).

Life

Wilhelm Ernst von Zastrow began his career in 1784 as a Junker in the Knobelsdorff Dragoons Regiment (No. 4) . Still an ensign in 1787 , he became a real captain until 1802 .

In the meantime he took part in the Revolutionary War and fought in the battles at Valmy , Kaiserslautern and Limburg . In 1806 he took part again in the war , where he actively attended the battles near Jena and Lübeck .

In 1810 Zastrow was promoted to major and took over as squadron chief , a little later as commander of the Pomeranian national cavalry regiment.
