Wilhelm Grenzmann

Wilhelm Ludwig Gottfried Grenzmann (born July 24, 1902 in Iserlohn , † August 30, 1967 in Siegburg ) was a German philologist and literary scholar .

Life

After graduating from high school in Iserlohn in 1921, he studied Catholic theology in Münster (1921) and at the episcopal philosophical-theological college in Paderborn (1921-23). He studied German , English and philosophy at the University of Münster (1923–26) and the University of Freiburg (1925) . On April 29, 1925 Wilhelm Grenzmann was at the University of Münster with the work The immediate vision of the phenomena of consciousness as the starting points of philosophical knowledge with Max Erdinger to Dr. phil. PhD.

On May 30, 1927 Grenzmann was sworn in as a teacher of high schools in Prussia and on April 1, 1931 he was given a permanent position. In 1929 he passed the pedagogical examination in Hagen. On April 1, 1940 he was appointed high school professor. After teaching at various grammar schools, he was appointed head of the study seminar in Wuppertal in 1940. From 1943 to 1953 he was senior teacher at the Beethoven-Gymnasium in Bonn and from 1945 to 1952 Head of German at the state study seminar in Bonn and from 1946 to 1948 senior teacher at the Prinz-Georg-Gymnasium in Düsseldorf.

After his habilitation in 1948, he received the venia legendi for modern German literature and language . From 1948 Grenzmann worked as a private lecturer at the University of Bonn , and from 1952/53 he was acting director of the Beethoven-Gymnasium in Bonn and senior director at the Beethoven-Gymnasium from 1953 to 1962.

From 1954 to 1966, Wilhelm Grenzmann was an adjunct university professor for modern German literature and language at the University of Bonn. In 1959 and 1963/64 he was a visiting professor at the Sophia University in Tokyo . From 1961 he was involved in the development of the Rhineland Pedagogical University in Neuss and was professor for didactics of German language and literature from 1962 to 1967 .

After a visiting professorship for comparative literature at the University of Innsbruck in 1966/67, Wilhelm Grenzmann was appointed to the university professorship for comparative literature on August 24, 1967 as the successor to Eduard Lachmann.

In 1958 Grenzmann was appointed Knight of the Papal Order of Knights of the Holy Sepulcher by Cardinal Grand Master Nicola Cardinal Canali and invested in the Archabbey Church of St. Peter in Salzburg on April 27, 1958 by Hugo Presch OCist , Grand Prior of the Austrian Lieutenancy .

Wilhelm Grenzmann was married to Maria, geb. Fracture; there are four children from the marriage.
