Willi Reinfrank

Willi Reinfrank (born May 30, 1903 in Mannheim , † 1943 near Stalingrad ) was a German weightlifter.

Career

Willi Reinfrank grew up in Mannheim and turned to heavy athletics as a teenager. He practiced lawn strength sports , wrestling and weightlifting . At the age of 17, he switched to weightlifting. In 1922 he was able to place himself among the winners at German championships for the first time. In 1924, when the Germans were still excluded from the Olympic Games, he became European lightweight champion in Neunkirchen (Saar) . With the performance he achieved, he would also have become Olympic champion in Paris . From 1925 to 1927 there were no international championships, so Willi Reinfrank was only able to take part in one again in 1928, at a time when he had already passed the zenith of his performance. In 1931 he ended his career as a weightlifter.

Willi Reinfrank was a trained mechanic who had worked his way up to an auctioneer. In January 1943 he fell near Stalingrad .
