Willy Schönefeld

Wilhelm Ferdinand Schönefeld (born November 14, 1885 in Cologne ; † October 28, 1963 in Karl-Marx-Stadt ) was a German architect . Schönefeld was active in Chemnitz and the surrounding area in the first half of the 20th century and, as a representative of modern architecture, shaped the urban appearance of Chemnitz. He was a member of the Association of German Architects and the German Werkbund .

  • 1910: Competition draft for a Bismarck national monument on the Elisenhöhe near Bingerbrück (not awarded a prize)
  • 1913: Arts and Crafts House in Chemnitz, Dresdner Strasse 11
  • 1917: Villa Rasmussen in Zschopau , Neue Marienberger Strasse
  • 1920: Competition draft for the design of the front of the market square and wood market in Chemnitz (awarded the 4th prize of 1,000 marks)
  • 1920/1921: Competition design for a school in Kändler (purchase, not executed)
  • 1921: Competition design for the residential development on Lehnberg in Schwarzenberg , Neuwelter Straße (together with the Schwarzenberg master builder Fritz Adler; awarded first prize; executed before 1926)
  • 1921: Competition design for a residential development of the Chemnitz-Altendorf settlement company on Ammonstraße (awarded 3rd prize)
  • 1921: Villa Götze in Annaberg-Buchholz , Parkstrasse
  • 1924–1926: Office and factory building of the upholstery fabric weaving mill Cammann & Co. in Chemnitz-Furth , Blankenauer Straße 74 (first high-rise in Chemnitz)
  • 1925: Factory building of the Zschopauer Motorenwerke JS Rasmussen AG in Zschopau
  • 1927: Neuwelt elementary school in Schwarzenberg, Lutherstrasse 21
  • 1928: Building of the office machine factory Astra-Werke AG in Chemnitz-Altchemnitz , Altchemnitzer Straße 4 (today the seat of the regional office of Saxony )
  • 1925–1926: Settlement houses on Eisenweg in Chemnitz
  • 1927–1928: ARWA stocking factory settlement in Auerbach (Erzgebirge) (together with Luderer & Schröder)
  • 1933: Extension of the Wieland estate in Auerbach
  • 1934: Catholic parish church St. Antonius in Chemnitz, Erfenschlager Straße 27
  • 1953–1955: Catholic Provost Church of St. Johannes Nepomuk in Chemnitz, Hohe Straße 1
