Willy Urech

Willy Urech (born December 1, 1912 in Aarau ; † March 18, 1986 there ; entitled to live there ) was a Swiss politician ( FDP ).

biography

Urech completed a commercial diploma at the Aarau Cantonal School , then an apprenticeship in banking , later graduated from the Matura in Lausanne and then studied law at the universities of Bern and Zurich . He received his doctorate as Dr. iur. In 1941 he became deputy town clerk and from 1961 to 1973 he was town mayor of Aarau .

In 1949 he was elected to the Grand Council of the Canton of Aargau and had a seat there until 1973. He also represented the canton of Aargau in the Council of States for two legislative periods (1971–1979) , where he tried to strengthen the position of his home canton.

Urech was also a member of the Board of Directors of “ Aare Tessin AG ” and President of the “Swiss Association for Atomic Energy”. His main political concerns were the promotion of public transport , the strengthening of the Swiss army and a balanced federal budget .
