The Kirchberg wind farm is a wind farm located in the municipality of Kirchberg in the Hunsrück , Rhineland-Palatinate . The park was created from summer 2011 to February 2012 on the hill “Im Faas” not far from the Hunsrückhöhenstraße between the towns of Kappel , Wüschheim and Reckershausen .

The wind farm is operated by Cerventus Naturenergie GmbH, which is a joint venture between the project developer juwi and Energieversorgung Offenbach . According to the operator, the wind farm was the most powerful in south-west Germany when it went into operation.

On May 13, 2012, the wind farm was officially put into operation in the presence of the Rhineland-Palatinate Prime Minister Kurt Beck and the Hessian Environment Minister Lucia Puttrich .

history

The project development of the wind farm began in 2007, and an application was made in 2009. Since the wind farm is partly located on a former military site, old military debris had to be cleared first. The actual start of construction took place in summer 2011. The first wind turbines were already operational in October, and the last one went online in mid-February 2012.

technology

For insert 23 come wind turbines of the type Enercon E-82 E2 with a capacity of 2.3 MW, a rotor diameter of 82 meters and a hub height of 138 meters. This results in a total height of the systems of 179 meters. The forecast annual electricity generation is 125 GWh , which, according to EVO, corresponds to the annual electricity requirement of 35,000 three-person households. The electricity is fed into the high-voltage network via a transformer station north of the city of Kirchberg , which was built especially for the wind farm and to which two other wind farms in the area are also connected.
