Vyatskoje ( Russian Вятское , wiss. Transliteration Vjatskoe ) is a fishing village on the south bank of the Amur in the Far East of Russia with 1893 inhabitants (as of 2011).

geography

The village is located about 70 km northeast of Khabarovsk and belongs to the Khabarovsk region . It belongs as its largest city to rural community (selskoje posselenije) Jelabuga of Rajons Khabarovsk .

history

The original inhabitants of the area around today's Vyatskoye were various Tungus tribes . The village was formerly part of Outer Manchuria and was ceded to Russia after the Beijing Convention in 1860 by the Chinese Qing dynasty with the Amur and Ussuri area around the current cities of Khabarovsk and Vladivostok .

The place name is derived from the name of the river Vyatka in the European part of Russia, from whose area the first Russian settlers probably came.

During the Second World War there was a camp of the 88th Brigade of the Soviet Army , which consisted of Chinese and Korean partisan fighters , at Vyatskoye . Kim Il-sung , later head of state of North Korea , was stationed there as captain of a battalion of the Red Army. Presumably his son and successor as North Korean head of state Kim Jong-il was born here on February 16, 1941 . However, according to the official North Korean version, this happened a year later on the Paektusan .

Sons and daughters of the place

  • Kim Jong-il (1941–2011), Chairman of the National Defense Commission of North Korea, Commander in Chief of the Korean People's Army and Secretary General of the Labor Party of Korea (de facto ruler of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea )
