Wladislaw Borissowitsch Baizajew ( Russian Владислав Борисович Байцаев ; born August 17, 1990 in Vladikavkaz ) is a Russian wrestler . He became vice European champion in 2011 , won a bronze medal in 2013 and was European champion in free style in light heavyweight in 2018 .

Career

Wladislaw Baizajew comes from North Ossetia . He started wrestling in 1998 at the age of eight. Since his first major successes, he has been training in a wrestling center of the Russian Wrestling Association in Samara . His trainers are or have been Cesar Rafael Tibilow, GS Berischwili and KH Zukang. He wrestles exclusively in free style and weighs around 100 kg as an adult at a height of 1.88 meters, but trains in the light heavyweight (weight limit 96 kg body weight).

He achieved his first international success at the 2007 European Junior Championship (Cadets) in Warsaw , where he took 3rd place in the weight class up to 76 kg body weight. He took the same place at the Junior World Championship (Juniors) 2009 in Ankara , where he a. a. won against Johannes Kessel from Germany and in the battle for the bronze medal against Alexander Romanow from Moldova . He celebrated the greatest success in his junior years in 2010. In Samokow ( Bulgaria ) he was junior world champion in the light heavyweight division ahead of Changerey Asijatilow from Azerbaijan and Alexander Chozianiwski from Ukraine .

In 2011 he took second place at the renowned Ivan Jarygin Memorial in Krasnoyarsk in the light heavyweight division behind Shamil Akhmedov , but ahead of Georgi Ketojew and Yuri Belonowski, all of them Russia. Obviously, he had convinced the officials of the Russian Wrestling Association so that they nominated him for the 2011 European Championships in Dortmund . He did not disappoint there and won victories over Janko Jakovljevic, Serbia , Hamza Közeoglu, Turkey and others. Pavlo Oleynik from Ukraine . In the final, however, he had no chance against the multiple world and European champion Chetag Gasjumow from Azerbaijan and was clearly defeated.

In 2012, Wladislaw Baizajew did not appear internationally. In January 2013 he celebrated a big comeback at the "Ivan Yarigin" Golden Grand Prix in Krasnoyarsk, where he won ahead of Ansor Boltukayev , Abdussalam Gadissow , Yuri Belonowski and Chadschimurad Gazalow , the entire Russian elite in the light heavyweight division. He then also won a medal at the 2013 European Championships in Tbilisi. With victories over Elisbar Odikadze , Georgia and Chetag Gasjumow, a defeat against Kamil Skaskiewicz , Poland and a victory over Imants Lagodskis , Latvia, he won a bronze medal.

After that it was no longer used at world or European championships. In February 2014 he was together with Yuri Belonovsky in the Russian team that won the World Cup in Los Angeles. In October 2015 he started in the heavyweight division at the World Military Games in Mungyeong, South Korea. There he won the title ahead of Deng Zhiwei , China, Johannes Kessel, Germany and Jafar Shamsnaferi, Iran.

In the years 2016 to 2018 he changed frequently between the heavyweight and the light heavyweight division. He competed in the heavyweight division at the 2016 European Championships in Riga , but only finished 12th there. At the Russian championship this year he started in the light heavyweight division and finished third behind Ansor Boltukayev and the old master Hadschimurad Gazalow . With this placement, he had no chance to be nominated for the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.

At the 2017 Russian championship, Vladislav Baizayev took second place in the weight class up to 97 kg, behind the whiz kid Abdulraschid Sadulajew . Since Abdulrazid Sadulayev started one weight class lower at the 2018 European Championships and Vladislav Baizayev showed very good form in several international tournaments, he started in the weight class up to 98 kg in April 2014 from the Russian Wrestling Association at the European Championships this year in Kaspiysk cleverly. He justified this trust and with victories over Abraham de Jesus Conyedo Ruano, Italy, Elisbar Odikadze , Georgia, Murazi Michelidze , Ukraine and Alexander Huschtin , Belarus, became European champion in a superior style.

Explanations
  • all free style competitions
  • WM = World Championship, EM = European Championship
  • Lightweight = weight class up to 96 kg (until December 31, 2013), since January 1, 2014 up to 97 kg; Heavyweight since January 1, 2014 up to 125 kg body weight; Since January 1, 2018, a new weight classification has been in effect again by the UWW World Wrestling Association. The designation of the weight classes is therefore only based on the weight.
