Wolfgang Friedrich I. von Dalberg (* 1565 ; † January 19, 1621 ) was a member of the von Dalberg family of imperial knights , landlord and functionary in the Electorate of Mainz and in the Upper Rhine Empire .

origin

The parents of Wolfgang Friedrich I were Friedrich IX. von Dalberg zu Kropsburg (1530–1577), captain of the Upper Rhine Imperial Knighthood, and Barbara, daughter of Baltasar von Rosenberg and Anna Krantz von Geispitzheim († 1578).

family

Wolfgang Friedrich I married twice:

  1. On September 4, 1595 Ursula (* 1580 or 1581; † January 28, 1611 in Nieder-Olm , buried in Nieder-Olm). She was a daughter of Johann von Kerpen -Illingen and Anna von Schauenburg .

In 1612 Wolfgang Friedrich I married again, namely Margareta Kunigunde († March 19, 1626, buried in St. Martin in Worms ), daughter of Georg Löw von Steinfurth and Anna von Greiffenclau zu Vollrads . That Margareta Kunigunde was buried in the collegiate church of St. Martin in Worms - and not in the family funeral of the Dalbergers in the parish church of St. Peter in Herrnsheim (today: Worms) - may have been due to the fact that the church was Lutheran at the time , Wolfgang's family Friedrich I. von Dalberg but Roman Catholic . Margareta Kunigunde was the widow of Marquard von Hattstein zu Weilbach when she married Wolfgang Friedrich I. Marquard von Hattstein zu Weilbach was a great-grandson of Philip I Chamberlain of Worms . The von Dalberg family was a side branch of the family of the Chamberlain of Worms . After the death of his father he inherited from its share in the domination Clervaux ( French Clervaux today: Grand Duchy of Luxembourg ) part and was henceforth a 10% stake in it. He named himself after this rule. Next belonged in parts of the Schüttburg . Wolfgang Johann married Maria Agnes Katharina in 1628, daughter of Johann Philipp von Hoheneck and Anna Wolff-Metternich zur Gracht .
  2. Philipp Balthasar (* 1597; † April 10, 1639, buried in St. Martin in Worms) also studied at the University of Perugia in 1617 and, after the death of his father, also inherited his share in the rule of Clervaux. From then on he also held 10% of this rule and named himself after it. In 1621 he married Magdalena (* 1604 or 1605; † December 26, 1647), daughter of Samson von Warsberg and Regina von Rollingen .
