Wolfgang House (* 26. July 1927 in Berlin , † 8. May 2018 ) was a German SPD - politicians , broadcast director, journalist and author.

education and profession

The trained historian received his doctorate from the Free University of Berlin in 1955 . After completing his dissertation, he initially worked as a research assistant at the German Association of Cities . From 1973 to 1978 Haus was director of the German Institute for Urban Studies .

politics

As an active member of the SPD, he was first in the Berlin election in 1967 in the Berlin House of Representatives voted, which he belonged to the 1978th

Among other things, he was chairman of the SPD parliamentary group from 1973 to 1977.

He was also a member of the House of Representatives and chairman of the Broadcasting Council of the broadcaster Free Berlin . He resigned his mandate in the House of Representatives in 1978 after he was elected SFB director.

Activity at the SFB

He held the office of director from 1978 to 1983. During his time as artistic director, Dieter Hildebrandt was responsible for the program Scheibenwischer , the establishment of the joint facility ARD / ZDF teletext center based at the SFB and the broadcasting of the talk show "People", which was awarded the Grimme Prize.

Since 1983 Haus worked as a freelance journalist.

Voluntary work

Since 1992, Haus has been Friedrich Luft's successor as Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Berlin Literary Colloquium .
