Wolfgang Schwarz (born April 21, 1934 in Selb ; † July 19, 2013 ) was a German mathematician who dealt with number theory.

Wolfgang Schwarz 1987

Black was at the 1959 University of Erlangen in Theodor Schneider PhD ( To display numbers as sums of prime powers ). He was a professor at the Albert Ludwig University of Freiburg and had been a professor at the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main since the early 1970s .

Schwarz dealt with analytical number theory. He also published on the history of mathematics (especially number theory, on the mathematical seminar at the University of Frankfurt in the time of Max Dehn and others).

In 1986 and 1987 he was President of the German Mathematicians Association .

He should not be confused with Wolfgang Schwarz, Professor of Mathematics Didactics at the University of Wuppertal .
