Wolfgang Taucher (born May 19, 1989 ) is an Austrian football player in the position of a defender who is mainly used as a central defender .

He is currently in the squad of FC Lankowitz with games in Austria's fifth-class Styrian Oberliga Mitte West. In the 2007/08 season he was also used sporadically in the First League , the second highest Austrian football league.

Career

Career start at USV Mooskirchen

Wolfgang Taucher began his active career as a football player at the end of October 1996 when he joined USV Mooskirchen from the market town of Mooskirchen in the Voitsberg district at the age of seven . With the West Styrians, he went through all youth leagues and was already a 15- or 16-year-old in the men's team, which at that time still had its game operations in the sixth division West . In the 2005/06 season, the young diver was also one of the main people responsible for receiving the championship title at the end of the season. After the team around the young defender had fought relatively early in the spring championship of the 2005/06 season, the team was at the end of the season with nine points ahead of pursuers USV Ragnitz minor league champions. Taucher was involved in all 26 league games, in which he remained goalless.

After advancing to the fifth-class Oberliga Mitte West , Taucher was still a regular in the troop trained by August Krenn. He was used in all 13 league games until the winter break of the 2006/07 season. His last game for West Styrians he finally scored on November 5, 2006 in the 0-1 away defeat against SV Frohnleiten . During the winter break he received a very promising offer from Gratkorn ; the amateur team with play in the fourth-class Styrian regional league wanted to bring the young defender to themselves. After being accepted into the national league squad of Gratkorner, Taucher made his debut on March 17, 2007 in the game against ATV Irdning (0-0). By the end of the season, the young central defender made another twelve championship appearances, in which he again failed to score. With the team, which often includes players from the professional team, he reached the final table with only two points behind champions SC Weiz and a respectable gap of twelve points on the nearest FC Großklein runner-up in the Styrian national league.

On the way to becoming a regular with the Gratkorn amateurs

In the 2007/08 season Taucher missed a large part of the spring championship and only came to his first season in the 13th round. After that he was usually in the starting line-up, but was spared the last few championship games of the Gratkorn amateurs and got a place on the reserve bench of the professional team as a reward for his committed appearance in the national league team. On May 3, 2008 Taucher finally made his professional debut when he was substituted on for the more experienced striker Dominic Hassler in the 5-0 victory over SC-ESV Parndorf in minute 75 . He made another short appearance in the last round match of the 2007/08 season , when he was Gratkorn's only goalscorer in the 88th minute of the game in a 3-1 home defeat against Red Bull Juniors , the second professional team of FC Red Bull Salzburg , Andreas Rauscher came onto the lawn. With the team he was eleven points behind the champions, the Kapfenberger SV , for the first time in the club's history runner-up in a professional league.

In the 2008/09 season, the central defender also demonstrated his skills in the offensive for the first time and scored two goals for his team in 23 national league games, but also two own goals. After he scored an own goal in the 1: 5 away defeat against SC Kalsdorf on October 3, 2008 , he scored his first regular goal in men's football in the following round in the 2: 2 home draw against ATV Irdning as a kind of compensation. It is noteworthy that he also acted as captain of his team in that same game. After he fabricated another own goal in round 17, he made up for it again in the season finale, when he scored a regular goal in a clear 7-0 away win over SV Wildon . Also this season Taucher was used in two championship games of the professionals and was there for the first time from the beginning on October 24, 2008 in the 1: 2 away defeat against SC Austria Lustenau , but was after the 2-0 lead The home side was replaced by striker Daniel Brauneis for tactical reasons . After a very promising team performance in the previous season, the team only reached eighth place in the table in 2008/09 and was even involved in the relegation battle for a long time.

Longer, if still sporadic, assignments with the professionals

In the 2009/10 season, the committed defender managed to establish himself as a regular in the Gratkorner national league team and was featured in a total of 22 championship games. He scored a regular goal for his team, as well as another own goal. In addition, the 1.86 m tall defender continued to be rewarded for his performance with sporadic appearances in the second highest Austrian league. For example, on February 26, 2010, after he had not played a professional game for over a year, he played the full game in a 0-0 away draw against the amateurs of FK Austria Wien . In the following round he was used for another 88 minutes.

In the 2010/11 season, the young central defender was only used in two amateur league games, but instead he was often found in the first division. To date (as of September 13, 2010) he has already been used in three league games, one of which he played through the entire duration of the match, was substituted on in another and replaced in another. Before his last appearance on September 11, 2010, Taucher had played 74 championship games and scored three goals for the amateurs of FC Gratkorn.
