Daniel Brauneis (born August 29, 1986 in Graz ) is an Austrian football player on the position of a striker . He currently plays for ASK Voitsberg in the fourth class Styrian regional league .

Career

youth

Brauneis began his active career as a soccer player in 1993 in the offspring of his home club, the Sportunion Hitzendorf , in the Styrian Hitzendorf near Graz. There he was active in several youth division until 1999, before Brauneis switched to the youth department of SK Sturm Graz as a youth cooperation player and later also attended the club's academy. After he was active as a cooperation player at the traditional Graz club from 1999 to 2004 , he was in the meantime also registered with his home club from Hitzendorf until 2005 and also came to his assignments in the respective junior game classes.

After he was registered with the Sportunion Hitzendorf again in mid-August 2004 , Brauneis signed a professional contract with FC Gratkorn in mid-March 2005 , in the second-class Austrian first division .

Club career

Brauneis made his professional league debut on July 22, 2005 in the 2-1 away defeat against SC Austria Lustenau . In the match he was substituted on for Wolfgang Hacker in the 56th minute . In the 2005/06 season Brauneis came to another 14 missions; Overall, he was only in two championship games on the field. However, he came to four goals in his, sometimes short appearances. He scored his first professional igator on his seventh league appearance on March 28, 2006 in a 1-1 home draw against LASK Linz after preliminary work by Georges Panagiotopoulos .

From the 2006/07 season onwards , the young striker was used more and more, was either substituted in or out in 31 games in 22 games and was therefore not really able to integrate into the team as a constant regular. In his 31 league games, he had a record of seven goals.

The 2007/08 season was quite successful for Brauneis from a sporting point of view, but he increasingly had to struggle with physical fitness problems, which was also reflected in his usage statistics. In a total of 20 championship appearances, he was never on the pitch for the full length of the game and was mostly only substituted in in the last few minutes of a match. During this season, Brauneis, as in previous years, played for the Gratkorner amateur team in the fourth-class Styrian regional league and was often able to shine with many goals. For the professionals he scored two goals this season and was instrumental in five goals through assists. He also reached second place with the team in the final table and was then allowed to call himself runner-up.

In the 2008/09 season he made 15 league appearances for the professionals of FC Gratkorn and scored five goals. It should be noted that these goals have only been achieved in the last few games played. As in the past, Brauneis was also used for the Gratkorner amateurs in the national league. He came to ten games and as many goals in the 2008/09 season.

At the end of June the change from Brauneis to the USV Allerheiligen was announced. A little later he was reported to the club and scored both goals for his team in his premiere game on July 31, 2009 in the 2: 3 away defeat against the Grazer AK and also received a yellow card during the game .

In the 2009/10 season , Brauneis played in 26 league games for the first combat team of the Allerheiligen club near Wildon and also scored 21 goals. He also made two appearances at the 2009/10 ÖFB Cup and scored just as many hits. After the 1: 2 defeat against Bundesliga club SK Austria Kärnten , in which Brauneis scored the only goal for his team, the team was eliminated after the second round of the current competition. Despite his high goal rate, it was not enough for the top scorer of the Regionalliga Mitte.

In the following 2010/11 season Brauneis was used in 26 championship games, in which he scored a total of 20 times. Also in the ÖFB Cup 2010/11 Brauneis was successful. He scored both goals of his team in the only game of his team, a 2-3 defeat against FC Blau-Weiß Linz .

After that season with the Südsteirern , he moved to the Grazer AK for the 2011/12 season , where he missed promotion to the first division due to the lost play-off against TSV Hartberg . He then moved to the Regionalliga Ost and played a good season at SKU Amstetten , before he was able to draw attention to himself with his good performances and was signed by Bundesliga club Wacker Innsbruck .

Time at FC Lankowitz

In 2014 Brauneis came to the Styrian club FC Lankowitz via the Burgenland regional league team SC Ritzing . At the club from Maria Lankowitz he was used in the fifth-class Oberliga Mitte West in 24 of 26 possible league games and scored 22 goals, making him not only the top scorer of his team, but also first place ahead of his teammate Thomas Strudl in the league-wide list of goalscorers. At the end of the season, the team was 19 points ahead of the closest pursuer and only one season defeat in first place, which meant direct promotion to the fourth-class Styrian regional league . He was also used this season in two games of the ÖFB Cup 2014/15 , for which FC Lankowitz had qualified as the Styrian Soccer Cup winner 2013/14, and scored three goals in the first round match against ATSV Ober-Grafendorf . In the second round the team was eliminated 3-0 against LASK . Also in the 2014/15 season, FC Lankowitz, who made it to the final of the Steirercup three times in a row, won it and thus qualified for the 2015/16 ÖFB Cup . In the course of the tournament Brauneis was used in seven games and scored twelve goals; after just two rounds, he had contributed eight hits.

After promotion to the state league, Brauneis was still used as a regular on the offensive from the start, but missed rounds 3 to 8 for private reasons and was only used again from the ninth round of the championship. By the 2015/16 winter break, the 1.83 m tall striker had made nine of 15 possible league appearances and scored eleven goals, making him the most dangerous player in Maria Lankowitzer. Furthermore, he made three appearances in the aforementioned ÖFB Cup 2015/16, where he contributed two goals and was eliminated with the team in the round of 16 against FC Admira Wacker Mödling . When the long-standing chairman, president and sponsor Hubert Scheer unexpectedly died on November 27, 2015 on a golf vacation in Mauritius at the age of 63, the club's financial decline followed immediately. As the autumn champions of the regional league, the club, which was still in the winter break, ceased playing due to financial reasons and dissolved a little later. As a result, all players were also released; Brauneis was drawn to league rivals ASK Voitsberg in January 2016 .

Change to ASK Voitsberg

With the Voitsbergers he acted right from the start as a regular player in the team trained by ex-professional Harald Holzer . Although he only joined the club during the winter break, he became the team's top scorer with his nine goals from 13 championship games and finished fifth in the league-wide scorers list with a total of 20 goals in the 2015/16 national league season. During this half-season he was trained by a total of three coaches (Harald Holzer (until April), Franz Rössl (April to May) and Christian Zach (from May)) and ranked sixth with the team in the final standings. In the following season 2016/17 he was used by Zach in 24 of 30 possible league games, with the 30-year-old scored 20 goals and thus topped the Voitsberger team's internal goalscorer list. There were seven other players ahead of him in the league scorer list. In the final ranking of the Landesliga 2016/17 he ranked second with ASK Voitsberg, four points behind TuS Bad Gleichenberg .

With Jürgen Hiden, the younger brother of the former Austrian national player Martin Hiden , who has been playing for ASK Voitsberg since 2002 , Brauneis also formed a dangerous attacking duo in the following season 2017/18. In the final table, which is sometimes quite tight, it was enough for the Voitsbergers for a sixth place in the table. With his 19 goals from 27 league games, he became the team's top scorer once again in the end; In the league-wide scorers list, he had five players in front of him this time. Together with Hiden he also formed the dangerous Voitsberg attack in the following season 2018/19 under coach Gerry Strafner . Both players scored 15 championship goals this season, making both team top scorers. In the league, the two had a few other players with more hits in front of them. In the final ranking of the Landesliga 2018/19, ASK Voitsberg finished seventh, once again in the middle of the table. In total, Brauneis was used by Strafner in 27 of 30 possible league games this season.

After Strafner left at the end of the season, Michael Zisser took over the coaching position for the Voitsbergers during the summer break and successfully led them to the autumn championship of the 2019/20 season. Under Zisser, Brauneis was also used in all 15 championship games until the winter break and with ten goals is also the player with the most goals for the Voitsbergers. In the league's top scorer list, there are currently (as of December 16, 2019) just four players just ahead of him. In addition to Jürgen Hiden, from this season he formed a strong attacking duo with the former Slovenian-Croatian young international player Sven Dodlek .
