Women's Cricket World Cup 1997
The 1997 Women's Cricket World Cup was the sixth women's Cricket World Cup to be held in a one-day format over 50 overs. It was held in India from December 9-29, 1997 . The team from Australia prevailed, defeating New Zealand in the final with 5 wickets.

The tournament was held in several stadiums across India. The final took place at Eden Gardens in Calcutta .
format
The eleven teams were divided into two groups. In these they each played once against each other in a round robin format . The first two in the group qualified for the semi-finals, the winners of which played the final.
