Wovenwar is a US-based Metal - band from San Diego .

history

In May 2013, the singer of the band was As I Lay Dying Tim Lambesis from the police arrested San Diego after he tried a hitman to recruit, which should kill his wife. Lambesis was sentenced to six years in prison in May 2014 . The remaining musicians Jordan Mancino ( drums ), Nick Hipa, Phil Sgrosso (both guitar ) and Josh Gilbert ( bass ) did not want to give up the band and decided to found a new band with a new name. According to Nick Hipa, Lambesi's act had damaged the name As I Lay Dying too much.

In June 2013 the musicians began to write new music as a quartet . At the suggestion of Josh Gilbert, Shane Blay, the guitarist of the band Oh, Sleeper , was traded as a possible singer. After the musicians exchanged several demos , Blay finally became a permanent member of the band. Over a period of a year, the musicians worked on new songs, which were eventually recorded with producer Bill Stevenson . The debut album was mixed by Colin Richardson .

In April 2014, the first single All Rise was released before the musicians played a tour supporting Black Label Society and Kyng . The debut album was released on August 1, 2014 via Metal Blade Records . In the first week of sales, the album was sold about 7,000 times in the US and the album debuted at number 36 on the US album charts .

In autumn, Wovenwar will tour Europe with While She Sleeps in support of In Flames . Wovenwar announced in advance that they would not play any songs by As I Lay Dying at their concerts.

The band name

According to guitarist Nick Hipa, the band name is supposed to express that all people are equal. However, certain character traits would change over time, which is also strongly influenced by the personal environment of the people.

According to Nick Hipa, Wovenwar have given themselves an ostensibly aggressive name to get their message across.

style

Wovenwar play modern metal with influences from Thrash Metal and Metalcore . In contrast to As I Lay Dying, singer Shane Blay almost exclusively uses clear vocals and rarely uses screams or shouts . Musically, according to Nick Hipa, the band processes more rhythmic dynamics within a song and can do more than switch between Thrash and Downbeats .
