Wugar Nariman ogly Orudschow
Wugar Nariman ogly Orudschow ( Russian Вугар Нариман оглы Оруджёв , Azerbaijani Vüqar Nəriman oğlu Orucov ; born October 26, 1971 in Baku , Soviet Union ) is a Russian wrestler who also competed for the Soviet Union, the CIS and Belarus . He became world champion in free style light flyweight in 1991 and 1995 .
Career
Wugar Orudschow was born in Baku, then the Soviet Union, now Azerbaijan . He started wrestling there as a teenager in 1986 and started for Dynamo Baku . Internationally, he competed for the Soviet Union until 1991. In the course of the dissolution of the Soviet Union, he started in 1992 for the CIS, 1993 for Belarus and from 1995 for Russia. In Russia he joined the army and started for the CSKA Moscow . He was trained u. a. by Z. Dschangirow. He was only active in free style and always in the lightest weight class in men's wrestling, the light flyweight , which had its weight limit of 48 kg.
1989 Wugar Orudschow was at his first start at an international championship in Bursa Junior European Champion in the age group "Juniors". He won ahead of Mircea Crutus, Romania and Fazli Yeter , Turkey (later Germany ). In the same year he was in Ulaanbaatar Junior Vice World Champion in the age group "Espoirs". In the final of this championship he had to admit defeat to Nasser Zeinalnia from Iran . In 1990 he was again Junior European Champion in the age group "Espoirs" before Neven Alexejew from Bulgaria .
In 1991 he started for the first time in an international senior championship. At the European Championships in Stuttgart he only had to admit defeat to the German Reiner Heugabel in the final . He was even more successful at the 1991 World Cup in Varna , where he won the world title ahead of Kim Il-ong , North Korea and Kim Jong-shin , South Korea . He succeeded in bringing the later two-time Olympic champion Kim Il-ong the only defeat in his international wrestling career.
1992 Wugar Orudschow was Vice European Champion in Kaposvár , where he lost in the final fight against Romica Rasovan , Romania . At the Olympic Games in Barcelona he competed for the CIS. There he lost his first fight against Kim Il-ong, but then won an Olympic bronze medal with impressive victories over Fariborz Besarati, Sweden, Stanislaw Szostecki , Poland, Aldo Martínez , Cuba, Reiner Heugabel and Romica Rasovan, Romania.
At the 1993 World Championships in Toronto , where he competed for Belarus, he finished second behind Alexis Vila Perdomo from Cuba and ahead of Jung Soon-won, South Korea. In 1994 he could not take part in any international championships because of his move from Belarus to Russia. In 1995 he won the European championship in Friborg / Switzerland ahead of Laszlo Olvary , Hungary, Wiktor Efteni from the Ukraine and Armen Mkrtchyan from Armenia . Then he won two world championship titles in 1995. First he was military world champion before Kim Soon-won and Armen Mkrtchyan and then in Atlanta also regular world champion, where he could take revenge against Alexis Vila Perdomo for the loss at the 1993 World Cup in the final.
In 1996, Wugar Orudschow took 3rd place at the European Championships in Budapest and thus won another medal. He was then denied a medal win at the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta. Like four years ago, he had to admit defeat in his first fight against Wiktor Efteni. Then he won over Paul Ragusa, Canada , Filiberto Fernandez, Mexico, Rob Eiter, United States , Gheorghe Corduneanu, Romania and Jung Soon-won. In the decisive fight for a medal he was defeated by Alexis Vila Perdomo, who became Olympic champion , while Wugar Orudschow slipped to the ungrateful 4th place.
After these Olympics, he ended his wrestling career, although he was only 25 years old.
