Band history
The sisters LaTocha and Tamika Scott grew up in the church of their father, the Reverent Randolf Scott. Scott, who himself was a member of an R&B band called The Scott Three in the 1970s, made music with his daughters at an early age, who eventually took part in local talent competitions in addition to church performances. Sisters Kandi Burruss and Tameka Cottle met during their time at Tri-City High School in College Park, with whom they founded the group Xscape in 1990.
The quartet had their first joint appearance in 1991 at the birthday party of producer Jermaine Dupri . They then got a contract with So So Def Records and released their debut album Hummin 'Comin' at 'Cha in the fall of 1993 , which reached number 17 on the Billboard 200 and number 3 on the R&B charts and was awarded a platinum record for it. The first single Just Kickin 'It also went platinum, her successor Understanding got gold .
In 1995 the album Off the Hook was released , which made it to number 23 on the Billboard 200 and number 3 on the R&B charts, for which it, like its predecessor, went platinum. The two most successful releases Feels So Good and Who Can I Run To achieved gold status. The third and final studio album, Xscapes, Traces of My Lipstick , also recorded platinum. The record hit number 28 on the Billboard 200 and number 6 on the R&B charts in 1998. With The Arms of the One Who Loves You also be a gold-winning single is included.
In addition to her music career, Tamika Scott is also an ordained minister and has recorded a solo gospel album . LaTocha Scott was also active solo and released the album Solo Flight 404 . Tameka Cottle married the rapper TI in July 2010. Kandi Burruss had a hit in Germany , Great Britain and the USA in 2000 as Kandi with the song Don't Think I'm Not . In 2007 she briefly formed the duo Peach Candy with rapper Rasheeda Buckner , which was unsuccessful.
