X-Tro: Not all aliens are friendly! (Original title: Xtro) is a science fiction - Horror -Kult film of the British Harry Bromley Davenport and co-producers Bob Shaye from the year 1982nd

action

Little Tony is playing with his father Sam outside next to their farm when the father disappears in a glaring light and is apparently kidnapped by aliens.

Three years later a light can be seen again and the spaceship comes back to earth. It plants a seed near the farm from which a grotesque looking alien hatches. This creature immediately starts looking for victims on the next street and finds them in Ben and Jane, who had stopped their car out of fright. After the two are killed, the alien makes his way to the nearest country house and attacks a woman there in order to successfully knock her unconscious and impregnate her against her will. The pregnancy goes so quickly that the woman wakes up a few minutes later just before giving birth. She gives birth to an adult man covered in blood, who is even tied to her with the umbilical cord, and dies immediately after birth. It turns out the man is Sam. He washes himself, hides the bodies and takes Ben's clothes and car to look for Tony.

Tony lives in an apartment in London with his mother Rachel, their new boyfriend Joe Daniels and a French au pair named Analise Mercier. Rachel and Joe are photographers and have their own studio in town. Due to his father's strange disappearance, Tony still has frequent nightmares and even wakes up one morning covered in blood. However, as confirmed by the doctor, this is not his blood. Tony says his father sent it to him.

Sam finds Tony at school and picks him up there, while Rachel is looking for her son and after a successful search finds him and surprisingly Sam. He wants to live with his family again because he doesn't seem to have any memories of the last few years. However, this completely contradicts Joe's opinion because he wants to marry Rachel. Nonetheless, Sam moves in with them, but acts very strangely. To Tony's horror, he eats the eggs from his snake and has to reassure his son. In this situation he bites his son and drinks some blood from him or infects him with the alien virus.

Caused by the bite, Tony discovers that he has certain powers and uses them on the one hand to have the mean neighbor killed by a human-sized toy soldier because she had killed his snake and on the other hand to turn a small toy clown into a real short human clown to transform. Meanwhile, Rachel discovers pictures of Jane in Sam's stolen clothes and speaks to him about them, although Sam says he doesn't know anything either. She readily believes this.

Since the relationship between Sam and Rachel seems to be the same as before, they decide to return to the old farm again and leave Tony in Analise's care. She neglects her duty and sleeps with her friend Michael until Tony suddenly knocks on her door and desperately wants to play hide and seek. She agrees and is knocked unconscious by the clown immediately after starting the game and abused as a kind of uterus for alien eggs. Tony also sends a toy tank to kill Michael, but it escapes the tank first, but is then killed anyway by a black panther (leopard) that suddenly appears. The caretaker, Mr. Knight, is killed by the clown when his mother calls to make sure everything is okay and only the caretaker is available.

While Rachel and Sam are on the farm, their relationship solidifies and they sleep together. Rachel flinches, however, when Sam's skin is slowly bleeding from his body. Meanwhile, Joe has found out that something is wrong with Sam and drives to the farm with Tony, who was waiting for him in front of the studio door. Once there, he is killed by Sam, who has completely turned into an alien, by his scream, while Tony accompanies Sam up a hill into a bright light or into the alien spaceship.

Rachel is left in the field completely dissolved and goes back to the apartment the next day. She finds the eggs, picks up one of them and is attacked by something similar to the alien at the beginning of the film.

Alternative ending

In the cinema the ending was only shown up to the scene in which Rachel is sitting on the field floor. This should represent a more positive ending than the negative (bloody) ending described above that was included in the video version. In Germany, however, the video version was left with the positive ending.

Reviews

“Technically, largely dignified horror film that exploits familiar patterns of action in the genre. Questionable due to an ostensible and misogynistic treatment of sexual motives. "

Sequels

In 1990 XTRO II - The Second Encounter was produced, followed in 1995 by XTRO-3 . Both were re-directed by Harry Bromley Davenport. Except for the title, these films have nothing to do with the first production.
