Yanchang ( Chinese  延长 县 , Pinyin Yáncháng Xiàn ) is a district of the prefecture -level city of Yan'an in the north of the Chinese province of Shaanxi . He administers an area of ​​2361.6 square kilometers.

Yanchang is located on the Loess Plateau on the edge of the Ordos Plateau , 47 kilometers east of Yan'an or 280 kilometers north of the provincial capital Xi'an . Its relief slopes from the northwest to the southeast, the area administered by Yanchang is at heights between 488 meters and 1,393 meters above sea level. The district belongs to the catchment area of the Yan He , a tributary of the Yellow River . Culture

The former Yanyijing site (Yanyijing jiuzhi 延 一 井 旧址) - mainland China's first oil well from the time of the Qing Dynasty - has been on the list of monuments of the People's Republic of China (4-250) since 1996 . In addition, Mao Zedong's residence during the Dongzheng Campaign, Hujiawan Cave, and Lijiawan Kiln are located in Yanchang County.
