Ansai ( Chinese  安塞 县 , Pinyin Ānsāi Xiàn ) is a district of the prefecture -level city of Yan'an in the north of the Chinese province of Shaanxi . He manages an area of ​​2951.3 square kilometers.

Ansai is located on the Loess Plateau on the edge of the Ordos Plateau , 36 kilometers north of Yan'an or 280 kilometers north of the provincial capital Xi'an . Its relief slopes from the northwest to the southeast. The urban area is at an altitude of 1061 meters, the area administered by Ansai is at heights between 1012 meters and 1731 meters above sea level. The main rivers are the Yan He , Dali He , Qingjian He , Xingzi He , Xichuan He , Xiaochuan He , Xiaogou He and Shuangyang He . The climate is continental and dry with large temperature differences between winter and summer and day and night. The annual average temperature is 8.8 ° C with 157 frost-free days per year. Ansai receives a long-term average of 505 millimeters of precipitation per year, but 2396 hours of sunshine per year.

The cultural monuments of Ansai include remnants of the Straight Street from the Qin Dynasty , archaeological sites from the Yangshao culture and the section of the Great Wall of China at Long'an.
