Ying virus is a genus of viruses ; the only genus in the family Qinviridae of the order Muvirales , genus Chunqiuviricetes . They are single-stranded RNA viruses of negative polarity .
etymology
The etymology of the genus Yingvirus and its external systematics is according to ICTV:
- The name Yingvirus is derived from 嬴 ( Chinese yíng ), the name of the lineage of the Chinese Duke Mù of Qín (en. Duke Mù of Qín ) from the spring and autumn annals , together with the suffix -virus for virus genera.
- The name of the family Qinviridae comes from 秦 ( Chinese Qín ), which refers to the state of Qín , together with the suffix -viridae for virus families.
- Muvirales is derived from 穆 ( Chinese Mù ), which again refers to the Duke Mù of Qín, together with the suffix -virales for virus orders.
- The name Chunqiuviricetes comes from 春秋 时代 ( Chinese Chūnqiū Shídài ), the Chinese name for the time of the spring and autumn annals , together with the suffix -viricetes for virus classes .
Systematics
The International Committee on Taxonomy of Viruses (ICTV) confirmed the following seven species in the genus Yingvirus as of June 2019 :
- Beihai Yingvirus (from the Chinese city of Běihǎi )
- Charybdis-Yingvirus (from the sea monster Charybdis in Greek mythology )
- Hubei Yingvirus (from the Chinese province of Húběi )
- Sanxia-Yingvirus (from the Three Gorges region on the Yangtze , Chinese Sān Xiá )
- Shahe-Yingvirus (from the city of Shāhé )
- Wenzhou Yingvirus (from Wēnzhōu City)
- Wuhan Yingvirus (from the city of Wǔhàn , type species)
- Xinzhou Yingvirus (from Xīnzhōu City)
The official English species names consist of the respective specific species name, usually a Chinese city (e.g. Wuhan ), followed by a space and the generic name in lowercase ( yingvirus ).
Genome
Little is known about the structure of the virus particles (virions) of the ying virus species. Genome lengths according to NCBI are:
- Beihai yingvirus : Beihai sesarmid crab virus 4 (7380 nt )
- Hubei yingvirus : Hubei qinvirus-like virus 1 (7366 nt)
- Sanxia yingvirus : Sanxia Qinvirus-like virus 1 (8238 nt)
- Wenzhou yingvirus : Wenzhou qinvirus-like virus 2 (8052 nt)
