Together with her friend Kaede, she is looking forward to the upcoming summer vacation , if it weren't for the tension between Kaede and Yū, who is the only one from the girl clique to go to another school and play for the rival lacrosse team. The growing hostility between Kaede and Yū is a major burden on Nagisa.

When Nagisa accidentally finds an old café with a radio station , she uses it to vent her displeasure. This private performance, however, leads to her meeting Shion, whose mother once ran the radio station until she fell into a coma in a traffic accident . Reviews

Anne Delseit writes in her two-page film presentation in AnimaniA about Your Voice: Kimikoe , that the plot of the anime film in its different strands in a cast that is too large: This is sometimes the conflict between Yu and Kaede, sometimes the history of the café or the radio project in the foreground of the action. As a result, many of the characters remain one-dimensional and some seem hastily thrown in. Nevertheless, writes Betz, it is up to the director Naoyuki Itō to bring everything together to a conciliatory end. Your Voice does not reach the caliber of the films by Mamoru Hosoda or a Makoto Shinkai , but the film offers a satisfying portion of feel-good drama à la The Anthem of the Heart .

Kim Morrissy wrote a rather neutral review of the film for the online platform Anime News Network . Despite many weaknesses and deficiencies, the film has a sincere heart, which Your Voice: Kimikoe lets shine beyond the mediocre script. However, according to Morrissy, are those who have the first original anime film of the studio Madhouse Inc . feverish duck fever, could be disappointed. In her grading, she praised the simple character designs, while she criticized half of the characters as underdeveloped and unnecessary. Overall, she awarded a C + for the anime film.
