content

In 2021, after the events of the previous series, duels will mainly be held on motorcycles, so-called D-Wheels, in the city of New Domino City and the surrounding slum-like suburbs - called satellites. Among the residents of this city, these duels are a sporting event that is mainly played in the arena between two duelers, while in the suburbs, duelers mainly duel with the police or other rivals to resolve disputes.

Duel Fortune Cup

18-year-old Yusei Fudo sets off to New Domino City on his D-Wheel to challenge his former friend Jack Atlas. On the way there, he has to assert himself several times against Trudge, a member of the public security agency (security service) who wants to arrest him. Yusei wins every time and finally comes to New Domino City and challenges Jack to a duel. When the two opponents' two dragon cards collide, the legendary "Fire Red Dragon" appears, through which Yusei and Jack get dragon marks on their arms. Yusei wins, but is taken to a detention center by security guards. There he meets Yanagi and Tanner, who help him escape. Through a friend of Tanner, Blister, Yusei gets his D-Wheel and his deck back. However, he is challenged again by Trudge. Trudge loses, but Yusei has a minor motorcycle accident and is cared for by twins Luna and Leo. He goes to the "Duel Fortune Cup" with the twins, Yanagi and Tanner because he is forced to, otherwise his friends in Satellite will not be released. In the tournament he has the opportunity to duel against Jack. In addition, Yusei and his friends get to know the strange Akiza, who also has a dragon mark. In a duel it turns out that Luna is also a "chosen one". In the decisive finale between Yusei and Jack, the fire-red dragon reappears and lets the two fight in another dimension, where she and the other chosen ones can see the future of Satellite. Yusei wins narrowly and is the new duel king.

Dark chosen ones

A mysterious group called "Dark Chosen", with marks similar to the normal elect, try to manipulate the residents of Satellite. Yusei tries not to let the premonition that Satellite will be destroyed by large, spider-shaped Nazca Lines come true. He meets his old friends Crow and Kalin again in Satellite, but Kalin has become a Dark Chosen One. Yusei is defeated by him in a turbo duel. Carly, a reporter who helped Jack after the duel with Yusei, inadvertently becomes a Sinister Chosen and defeats Sayer in the duel. Akiza Izinski gets involved in a duel with Misty, a fashion model. During the duel, Akiza sees Sayer falling into the depths. She is shocked and screams for him. Carly has now become "normal" again and can hardly remember anything. The Akiza duel was interrupted by the breakup of the Arcadia movement. The dark elect are the chosen of the Earthbound Immortals. Rex Goodwin, head of Yliaster, tells Yusei and his friends about the story of the Chosen. Meanwhile, Crow duels with Lazar, Goodwin's supporter, who is interrupted. Later, Yusei and his friends fly to Satellite with Trudge and Mina. There they meet Martha, the foster mother of Yusei, Jack and Crow. Beside her there are also many orphans and blisters. In the evening Roman, the head of the Dark Chosen, appears out of the blue and challenges Yusei to a duel. But this novel is not himself, but Rally, which he took as “bait”. So that Yusei does not lose, Rally destroys the Earthbound and loses the duel. At the end of the duel, the other Dark Chosen arrive and declare war on Yusei and his friends. In the meantime, Luna has been transported to the world of dueling spirits to free her legendary dragon there. Meanwhile, Leo instead of Luna duels with the Dark Chosen Devack to protect his sister. Luna has since managed to free her dragon and return to the real world. There she takes over her brother's duel and, with his help and the ancient fairy dragon, manages to defeat Devack and his earthbound immortals. In the meantime, Crow has also reappeared, who wants to compete in a motorcycle duel with the new sinister-chosen member Greiger, who was defeated by Yusei in the Duel Fortune Cup. The two drive a tough duel without autopilot, but Greiger and his earthbound immortal are defeated by Crow anyway. Yusei and Kalin then compete against each other in a turbo duel. In tears, Yusei manages to defeat him. Yusei takes on Roman again in a duel. During the duel, he reveals that he was once the Fifth Chosen 17 years ago before he chopped off his arm due to the power of the Dark Chosen One. He passed this arm on to his brother Rex. Yusei defeats Roman, who explodes and causes Yusei to fall into a ravine. Meanwhile, Carly reappears and challenges Jack to a turbo duel. He does not want to duel with her, because he knows that every sinister chosen one dies after a lost duel. He tries to bring her to reason and reveals his feelings for her during the duel. During the duel it turns out that Yusei survived the fall. By directing her own attack on herself, Carly purposely loses the duel and when she embraces Jack, she tells him that she loves him. Now Misty and Akiza are fighting again. Suddenly Sayer reappears because Carly was defeated and because of that all of them returned to the darkness. He tells Yusei that he was responsible for the death of Misty's brother. Through a trick by Yusei, Misty hears it all and kills Sayer with her Earthbound Immortal. She no longer has a grudge against Akiza and loses the duel. Now Yusei, Jack and Crow compete in an extraordinary turbo duel against Rex, who turns out to be the Dark One. The three struggle hard; when Rex then summons the strongest Earthbound Immortal, Crow and Jack lose. Now Yusei has to fight Rex alone. But with the help of the fire-red dragon he manages. Rex is defeated. He and his brother see their mistakes; all dead Dark Chosen - but without memories of life as Dark Chosen - are resuscitated, except for him and Roman. As a thank you for your help in this difficult fight, Crow is made fifth chosen by the Fire Red Dragon. New Domino City is now also connected to Satellite by a bridge. Yusei, Jack and Crow drive a new future on the bridge. Rex Goodwin is the brother of Roman and is the strongest of the Six Dark Chosen.

Before the Turbo Duel Grand Prix

Six months after the battle against the Dark Chosen, New Domino and Satellite are linked, there is no longer any difference between the two cities. A mysterious slab of stone falls into a wooded area, and a little later three robes - Primo, Lester and Jacob - arrive, members of Yliaster, who tell the Lazar who arrived later that they are now his new boss (he is also a member). There is a new field magic card, "Tempo World 2", which must now be played in turbo duels. The mysterious duelist Ghost takes on Trudge. He loses and is rushed to hospital when his D-Wheel explodes due to Ghost's fault. Yusei later competes against Ghost. Yusei wins. He, Jack, and Crow discover that he was just a robot. After several small duels between Yusei and his friends, he is kidnapped by a team competing in the “Turbo Duel Grand Prix”, which will take place soon. He is saved by the mysterious turbo duelist Sherry and at the same time challenged to a turbo duel. Her goal is to have Yusei on her team. Akiza is on Yusei's D-wheel during the turbo duel and is watching this type of dueling with excitement. Due to the intervention of the opposing Turbo-Duel Grand Prix-Team, the duel ends with a patt. Now Yusei tries his hand at a turbo duel with synchro summoning against the masked turbo duelist Vizor. This shows him the new "Fast Synchro Summoning", but loses on purpose. Fascinated by the turbo duels between Yusei and his friends, Akiza now also wants to become a turbo duelist, so she gets her driver's license to drive a D-wheel. She competes against Trudge in the driving test and wins. Later Leo and Luna compete with D-Boards in a turbo duel against Lester, which they lose. Yusei and his friends get to know Bruno, who has similar technical skills to Yusei. Lazar steals the program that Yusei and Bruno were working on for the Grand Prix. Yusei, Jack, Crow and Bruno pursue him, but are then locked in a warehouse, where Yusei competes against a dueling robot and wins. They were able to escape before the explosion in time. A little later Yusei meets Kalin again in Crashtown, but he behaves strangely. Now the two duel again. Yusei can beat him, but betrayal causes them to be locked in the mine. They try to escape, but Lawton confronts them and challenges Yusei to a turbo duel. The duel is broken off by a devious trick by Lawton. In Crashtown, Yusei and Kalin now face Lawton again in a day duel. As it appears shortly before Lawton's defeat, Jack, Crow, and the New Domino City police arrive to rescue the Crashtown residents from him. Lawton sees his chance and flees. But Kalin can confront him, and ultimately defeats him. Yusei, Jack and Crow travel home, while Kalin wants to stay in Crashtown. In a turbo duel against Bolton, with which Crow still has a bill, the black winged dragon with whom Crow wins the duel is revealed.

Turbo duel Grand Prix

The Grand Prix begins, but Crow cannot take part for the time being because he injured himself during training. Akiza will now take his place with Yusei and Jack against Team Unicorn from Spain. Jack and Akiza underestimated Andre and both lose to him; now it's up to Yusei to beat the entire team. With a lot of effort he manages to defeat Andre, Breo and Jean. Akiza is now injured in an accident; Crow jumps in for them and takes on Hermann from Team Catastrophe from Germany. Crow can win against Hermann. Next, Nicolas and Jack duel; Jack can win the duel very quickly despite a sinister card from Nicolas. Due to the crash of Nicolas' D-Wheel, Team Catastrophe automatically lost. Meanwhile, Primo sends off an army of Ghosts, all of which face Yusei, Jack, Sherry, Elsworth and Kaz in a Turbo Duel Battle Royal. Sherry and Elsworth lose. Bruno appears out of nowhere and turns out to be Vizor. With his help, Yusei beats the remaining Ghosts. Shortly thereafter, Primo appears, who challenges Bruno to a turbo duel. After a short time, Primo interrupts the duel and turns to Yusei. With the quick synchro summoning of the shooting star dragon, Yusei manages to defeat Primo. At the end of the duel, Lester and Jacob also arrive, who introduce themselves to Yusei, Jack and Crow. Sherry and Elsworth attack the two but have no chance. Later Jack duels with the servants of the fire red devil in Nazca to master the synchro-summoning of the red nova dragon. With him he beats the servant. Yusei, Bruno and Sherry head to the Momentum Express, a modern complex of buildings, to learn more about Yliaster. There they are lured into a trap and trapped in a wormhole from which only Yusei and Bruno can escape. Meanwhile the Grand Prix continues, Jack competes against Yoshizo from Team Taiyo from Japan. Jack wins, but loses to Jinbei. This is beaten by Crow, but Crow by team leader Taro. Yusei manages to finally beat the team with a quick synchro. Team 5D's next opponent is Team Ragnarok from Norway. All members each have a strong polar deity. Jack settles an old score with Dragan and wins the first duel. Dragan's polar god is so hard on Jack that Brave has an easy time and wins the next duel. Now Crow is the next wheeler. He is pushed into a corner and now has to assert himself against two polar gods. There will be a tie; Brave and Crow lose. Harald and Yusei line up last. First, Harald calls the third polar deity onto the field. With the fast synchro of the shooting star dragon, Yusei manages to beat all three polar gods and triumph over Team Ragnarok. In the final of the Grand Prix, Team 5D's will now play against Team New World, consisting of Primo, Jacob and Lester. Jack defeats Lester and Primo without much difficulty, but he loses to Jacob. Now Crow is dueling with him. But he also has no chance against Jacob, but leaves his black-winged dragon behind for Yusei. Yusei competes against Jacob. During the duel, he tells that he, Primo and Lester come from a future in which the world has been totally destroyed by Synchro Summoning. Later in the duel, Jacob, Primo and Lester merge to form Aporia. The duel continues in New Domino City. With the help of Jack and Crow's dragons, Yusei manages to defeat Aporia. Team 5D's are the new champions. But the strange “Ark Cradle” appears out of nowhere and threatens to fall on the city. It is about New Domino City in the future. Everyone immediately evacuates the city.

Ark Cradle

Inside the Ark Cradle are Sherry and Z-one. Sherry advises Yusei not to enter the Ark Cradle, otherwise he would die. Against this warning, Yusei, Jack, Crow, Akiza, Leo, Luna and Bruno (in the form of Vizor) enter the strange structure above New Domino City with the help of Team Ragnarok, with Akiza falling into the depths. Once at the top, they suddenly fall into a dark black hole.

Fortunately, they all land on one of three platforms that are inside the Ark Cradle. They are divided into three groups. Each group tries to stop a drive so that no more negative Ener-D of the main drive is produced. Akiza and Crow encounter Sherry on their way. They duel. Akiza and Crow win and convince Sherry to fight together. Next, Aporia stands in the way of Jack, Leo, and Luna. During the duel, Jack and Luna are critically injured, but Leo sacrifices himself. Ancient fairy dragon brings Leo back to life. He gets his own dragon mark, which helps him to transform his tool kite into a life stream kite through a synchro summon. Jack, Leo and Luna win together against Aporia, who falls into the depths.

A short time later, Yusei and Vizor also reach the third drive of the Ark Cradle. There Vizor reveals his true identity: his name is Antinomy and he is a companion of Z-one. The fight between the two begins. In the duel against Antinomy, Yusei comes under pressure from Antinomy's Delta Fast Synchro Summon. But he manages to defeat Antinomy. Yusei recognizes him as Bruno, her friend, which he is very happy about. He manages to get Yusei out of the black hole, but Antinomy dies in the process. A little later they are all reunited and meet Z-one. After a short dialogue, Aporia arrives, seriously injured. He challenges Z-one to a duel. Aporia gradually summons all machine imperators, but still loses against Z-one. It turns out that Aporia Yusei wanted to give Yusei a glimpse of Z-one’s monster before the decisive battle began. Shortly before his death, he equips Yuseis D-Wheel with new powers; it can now fly. All chosen ones strengthen Yusei's deck for the duel against Z-one with their dragon cards. Now the last decisive turbo duel for the future of New Domino City begins. Both Yusei and Z-one lose life. During the fight, Z-one's mask breaks and one recognizes an aged Yusei Fudo. Z-one tells his story: he is the founder and leader of Yliaster and, like Aporia, Antinomy and Paradox, comes from the ruined future. To improve this future, he had the legendary duelist Yusei Fudo operated on. From then on Z-one fought as Yusei with humanity against the machine imperators and was considered a hero. However, there was nothing he could do about the total destruction of the earth; he blamed Synchro Summoning. Back in the present, Z-one invokes more and more temporal machine gods and cornered Yusei. With a limit-over quick synchro summon of the Quasar Shooting Dragon, Yusei manages to turn the tide. Yusei ultimately connects the dragons of his friends with the stardust dragon and thus manages to beat Z-one. Finally, Z-one sacrifices himself to destroy the Ark Cradle. Yusei and his friends are saved. Yusei returns to his friends, who welcome him with open arms.

The future of Team 5D's

After the fight with Z-one, peace has finally returned to New Domino City. Yusei continues his father's work on the Ener-D reactor, Crow works for the New Domino City Police Department, and Akiza is enrolling in a medical college, and Leo and Luna are asked by their parents to stay with them outside of New Domino City to live. After a long time, Team 5D's meet again. Jack, who wants his title as Duel King back, challenges Yusei to a turbo duel, which he also accepts. In the duel there is also a clash between their main dragons, the shooting star dragon and the red nova dragon. The decisive victory, however, brings Yusei's junk warrior against red dragon archfiends (ironically, these two monsters also compete against each other in the first opening, "Kizuna", but without an outcome). Yusei wins the duel. Later, Team 5D's touches down for the last ride, during which the fire-red dragon appears and removes their mark from all chosen ones. Now the friends part ways, all towards the future. Yu-Gi-Oh ends here! 5D's.

Characters

Yusei Fudo
不 動 遊 星 ,

Fudō Yūsei

The adult main character of the series lives with his friends in the suburbs of New Domino City and at the beginning of the series he puts together his D-Wheel from all the parts he can find in order to be able to reclaim a map from his rival Jack Atlas stolen from him two years earlier. Yusei's dragon card is the stardust dragon. Later on, Yusei can summon falling star dragons because of the quick synchro (a synchro summon with a D-wheel).
Jack Atlas
ジ ャ ッ ク ・ ア ト ラ ス , Jakku Atorasu
Yusei's rival and former best friend who left Yusei's group. Two years ago, he stole Yusei's best card and his first self-made D-wheel, and became the king of duels in New Domino City. Jack's dragon card is the red dragon archfiend. Jack later gains the Heartfire condition and can summon Red Nova Dragon.
Crow Hogan
ク ロ ウ , Kurou Hōgan
Crow is a friend of Yusei and Jack from Satellite. He acts similarly to Yusei; however, he is more daring in certain situations. Crow helps the Satellite orphans wherever he can. After the final fight with Rex Goodwin, he becomes the chosen one. His dragon card is the black-winged dragon.
Akiza Izinski
十六 夜 ア キ , Izayoi Aki
Akiza is also known under the name "Black Rose". Like Yusei and Jack, it also has a dragon mark. Akiza has telekinetic powers that she puts outside of humans as well as chosen ones, it seems to be a form of ESP. This power allows her to realize duel monsters and trap cards in a duel, comparable to a shadow game; but later she relies on her own strength. As the series progresses, she shows more interest in Yusei. Akiza's Dragon Card is the Black Rose Dragon.
Leo & Luna
龍 亞 &
龍 可 , Rua & Ruka
Leo & Luna are twin brother and sister. After Yusei had a minor motorcycle accident while fleeing Trudge, the two of them took care of him. Since then, they haven't left Yusei's side. Leo is a hyperactive whirlwind, while his sister is more of a calm being. It later turns out that Luna can see dueling spirits and that she is also a "chosen one". Luna's dragon card is the ancient fairy dragon. Leo's tool dragon is the mechanical form of the fifth legendary dragon. Later he receives the now former fifth dragon, the life stream dragon.
Bruno
ブ ル ー ノ
Bruno has similar technical talents as Yusei. He suffers from amnesia and therefore moves in with Yusei, Jack and Crow. It later turns out that Bruno is the mysterious duelist Vizor, who teaches Yusei how to fast-synchro. Yusei and his friends don't yet know that the two are one and the same person. In the shape of Vizor, he accompanies Yusei to the Ark Cradle. When he arrives at the third drive of the Ark Cradle, his true identity is revealed: Vizor is actually called Antinomy and is an android created by Zone that is supposed to represent an image of the deceased Antinomy. Yusei recognizes Bruno in Antinomy until the end, which delights him. After helping Yusei, Antinomy dies.

D-Wheels

The turbo duels in this series are contested on the so-called D-Wheels. These are technically modernized motorcycles that are powered by Ener-D (Momentum in the Japanese version) and are equipped with removable Dueldisks. The heroes all have a special D-wheel that is personally tailored to them. Yusei Fudo built his D-Wheel himself; the most distinctive colors are red and white; it's called "Yusei Go". Jack Atlas owns a white D-Wheel, which is called "Phönix-Wirbelwind" (Wheel of Fortune in the Japanese version), which is actually Yusei's first D-Wheel, but was stolen and improved by Jack (in the Japanese version Yusei's first D-Wheel later scrapped, the Wheel of Fortune is a different model). Crow Hogan's D-Wheel also has folding wings and it's called "Black Bird" which his friend Robert Pearson gave him. Akiza Izinski later also owns a wine-red D-wheel that bears the name "Bloody Kiss". The twins Leo and Luna both have an alternative form of the D-Wheels, namely a pink and a blue duel board.
