Zedersdorf is about 14 kilometers southeast of Coburg . The agricultural town is connected by community roads with Bieberbach , Weickenbach , Firmelsdorf and Gestungshausen . The Zedersbach flows through the village and flows into the stream of the same name in Weickenbach.

history

Zedersdorf was first mentioned in 1317 as "Zedansdorf" in the Urbarium , a list of possessions of the Hennebergers when they acquired the New Rulership.

In 1353, Zedersdorf and the Coburg Land were inherited by the Wettins and from 1485 it was part of the Electorate of Saxony , from which the Duchy of Saxony-Coburg later emerged. In 1485 the Dukes of Saxony acquired the property of the Bamberg Monastery Michelsberg in Zedersdorf.

Zedersdorf has belonged to the Evangelical Lutheran parish Gestungshausen for centuries . In 1837 the village had 164 inhabitants, in 1871 there were 172.

A schoolhouse was built in 1842. In 1878 two breweries were founded in the place, one of which existed until 1911 and the other until 1962. This belonged to the Höllein family from 1911 and brewed with the brand Brauerei Höllein Zedersdorf.

In a referendum on November 30, 1919, 1 Zedersdorf citizen voted for the Free State of Coburg to join the Thuringian state , 65 were against. Thus from July 1, 1920 Zedersdorf belonged to the Free State of Bavaria . In 1925 the settlement had 377.55 hectares, 144 residents, 143 of whom belonged to the Protestant church, and 27 residential buildings. The Protestant church is located in Gestungshausen, 2.4 kilometers away. In 1929 the community had a water pipe built.

In 1964 the community initiated the admission to the Sonnefeld School Association. In 1970 the Zedersdorfer voted with a clear majority to join Sonnefeld. On January 1, 1971, it was incorporated into Sonnefeld. A land consolidation was carried out from 1972 to 1982. In 1987 the village had 111 inhabitants, 31 residential buildings and 35 apartments.
