Firmelsdorf is a district of the Upper Franconian community of Sonnefeld in the Coburg district .

geography

Firmelsdorf is about 13 kilometers east of Coburg between Sonnefeld and Gestungshausen . A community road connects the town with Weischau and Zedersdorf , which goes back to an old trade route from Ober mainfurten via Fürth am Berg and Judenbach to the north.

history

Firmelsdorf was first mentioned in a document as "Vorwiczdorf" in 1225. From 1674 at the latest until the 19th century, the place was called Firbelsdorf. Heinrich von Sonneberg acquired the place from the Saalfeld monastery in 1252 . 1263 Firm Elsdorf was succeeded by his son Henry II. Of Sonneberg the monastery Sonnenfeld passed. Around 1300 the monastery gave up the settlement.

Today's Firmelsdorf was built around 400 meters east of the earlier settlement in the 18th century. In the 19th century, Firmelsdorf was united with the neighboring Gestungshausen , 2.7 kilometers away .

In 1925, Firmelsdorf had 39 residents and 9 residential buildings. In 1987 the village had 49 residents and 14 houses. Firmelsdorf belongs to the Evangelical Lutheran parish of Gestungshausen. With the incorporation of Gestungshausen on January 1, 1972, Firmelsdorf was reclassified to Sonnefeld.
