Zef Gashi

Zef Gashi SDB (born December 4, 1938 in Pešter near Lipljan , Kingdom of Yugoslavia , today Kosovo ) is a religious and emeritus Roman Catholic Archbishop of Bar in Montenegro .

Life

After completing primary school, Zef Gashi entered the order of the Salesians of Don Bosco in autumn 1955 and attended the general high school in Rijeka for four years . Afterwards he studied in Zagreb theology and received on 29 June 1969, the sacrament of Holy Orders . Until 1992 Gashi worked as a pastor in Pristina and Peshter . From July 1992 until his appointment as archbishop he taught at the catechetical institute in Shkodra, Albania, and also worked as a parish priest.

Pope John Paul II. Appointed him on June 27, 1998 Archbishop of Bar. The episcopal ordination donated him to the Cardinal Prefect of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples , Jozef Tomko , the same year on September 19. Co- consecrators were the Apostolic Nuncio in Yugoslavia, Archbishop Santos Abril y Castelló , and his predecessor Petar Perkolić .

On April 5, 2016, Pope Francis accepted his age-related resignation.
