The Zellerbruch nature reserve of Seligenstadt and Zellhausen (NSG identification 1438020) is located in the Offenbach district in Hesse . It covers around 58.12 hectares of forest in the urban areas of Seligenstadt and Mainhausen .

Area description

The nature reserve (NSG) is located northwest of the Mainhausen district of Zellhausen between the A3 motorway and the L2310 state road. It covers areas of the Seligenstadt and Zellhausen districts in the Hanau-Seligenstädter Senke natural area. The NSG consists of beech forests, floodplain forests and wet meadows. It is supplemented by an adjacent landscape protection area of ​​34.27 hectares, which mainly consists of agriculturally used grassland.

Protection purpose

The purpose of the protection is to secure and maintain ecologically valuable landscape elements of the Holocene Main floodplain with a near-natural alder quarry and alder-ash floodplain forests, valuable remaining areas of the formerly largest contiguous wet meadow area and also locations of medium humidity up to fragments of grassland.
